Job Description

The Shipping Assistant plays a key role in supporting warehouse operations by safely and accurately moving pallets, verifying outbound shipments, and communicating shipping line-ups using the D365 system.

This position requires routine use of RF scanners, forklifts, and computer software to ensure efficient trailer loading and documentation.

The Shipping Assistant works closely with the Meijer Distribution Facilities (DFs) and internal teams to coordinate outbound logistics and support a clean, safe, and organized work environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Operate a forklift to move pallets from staging lanes to loading areas.
• Inspect pallets for accuracy and damage, ensuring ASN labels match the load.
• Scan ASN labels using RF scanners and load pallets into designated trailers.
• Print and organize Bills of Lading (BOLs) for completed shipments.
• Communicate daily trailer line-ups and load statuses via email to Meijer DF partners.
• Maintain organization of daily shipping documentation and records.
• Use Meijer360/CINTRIX systems to coordinate inbound and outbound trailer movement.
• Secure trailers with Glad locks prior to loading and release them once loading is complete.
• Uphold safety and cleanliness standards by disposing of cardboard, plastic, pallets, and debris appropriately.
• Support cross-functional warehouse duties as needed and follow all safety procedures.
• Daily use of computer software and applications.

Desired Education, Skills, and Experience

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous warehouse experience with order picking or shipping strongly preferred.
• Valid forklift operator certification or ability to obtain one.
• Familiarity with RF scanning devices.
• Proficiency with computers and common applications (email, Microsoft Office, warehouse systems).
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in matching labels, orders, and documentation.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Self-motivated with strong time management and organizational skills.
• Demonstrates professionalism, accountability, and a team-oriented attitude.
