The Shipping Assistant supports daily shipping and warehouse activities by preparing, verifying, packaging, labeling, and staging customer and internal shipments. This role helps ensure orders are accurate, safe, and on time while following site procedures, quality expectations, and all warehouse safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, package, label, and stage outgoing shipments according to procedures and customer requirements.

• Verify product, quantity, lot information, order details, packing slips, and shipping documents for accuracy.

• Process shipments using carrier and internal business systems; maintain tracking and shipment records.

• Inspect materials and packages for damage, accuracy, and packing compliance before shipment.

• Assist with non-powered material movement using approved methods such as carts or hand trucks.

• Maintain shipping supplies and keep the shipping/warehouse area clean, organized, and safe.

• Communicate delays, damages, shortages, or discrepancies to the supervisor or appropriate team.

• Support inventory, cycle count, receiving, or stock movement activities as needed.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; shipping, receiving, warehouse, or fulfillment experience preferred.

• Basic computer skills and ability to use scanners, scales, shipping systems, inventory systems, or ERP tools.

• Ability to read and follow procedures, work instructions, documentation requirements, and safety guidelines.

• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, communication, organization, and teamwork skills.

Safety, Physical Requirements, and Work Environment

• Must observe all warehouse and shipping safety requirements, including wearing a safety vest and required PPE in designated areas.

• This position does not operate powered industrial equipment, including forklifts, fork trucks, or powered pallet jacks.

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, lift, carry, push, and pull throughout the shift; ability to lift up to 50 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodation.

• Work is performed primarily in a warehouse/shipping environment and may involve routine warehouse noise, movement, and varying temperatures.

• Overtime or schedule flexibility may be required based on business needs.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with UPS, FedEx, DHL, USPS, ERP, warehouse management, or inventory control systems.

• Experience in a regulated, manufacturing, distribution, life sciences, laboratory, or medical device environment.

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in Connecticut is $15.85–$23.77.
