Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage inbound and outbound freight operations to ensure timely and cost-effective material flow.
  • Coordinate and manage LTL (Less-Than-Truckload) shipments, including carrier selection and freight optimization.
  • Support day-to-day coordination of floor movements in shipping and receiving areas.
  • Collaborate with carriers, suppliers, and internal teams to resolve shipping issues, delays, or discrepancies.
  • Help manage inbound logistics and receiving activities, ensuring materials are received accurately and on time.
  • Oversee and maintain shipping documentation, including Bills of Lading (BOLs), packing lists, freight invoices, and related paperwork.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, customer requirements, and transportation regulations.
  • Manage and support cycle count activities, investigate discrepancies, and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and support ongoing inventory control improvements.
  • Use ERP data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for inventory reduction or accuracy improvement.
  • Utilize SAP or similar ERP systems for shipping transactions, inventory movements, reporting, and documentation.
  • Maintain accurate transactional data and support master data integrity.
  • Develop and monitor shipping and logistics KPIs, including cost, service level, on-time delivery, and damage rates.
  • Drive continuous improvement projects focused on logistics efficiency, cost reduction, and service improvement.
  • Apply Lean, Six Sigma, or other problem-solving methodologies to logistics processes.
  • Lead and support safety initiatives within shipping and receiving areas to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Participate in audits, safety reviews, and corrective action plans.
  • Other job duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of shipping/receiving experience and leading others in a manufacturing environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Bilingual in Spanish strongly preferred.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the day-to-day workflow of shipping and receiving staff.
  • Follows timekeeping requirements for shipping and receiving staff.
  • Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
  • Manages disciplinary action process of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.

Travel RequirementsLess than 10% and as needed.

Physical Requirements:Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer or standing and walking on the manufacturing floor.

Work Conditions:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to manufacturing equipment and machinery, forklifts, and pallets. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme hot and cold weather conditions. Personal protective equipment is required in all areas of the production plant.
