Job Description

Mallard Manufacturing, a MacLean-Fogg Company, is hiring a Shipping and Receiving Clerk at our Sterling, IL facility. In this entry-level role, you will support inbound and outbound shipments, maintain accurate shipping records and inventory transactions, and help keep materials moving safely and efficiently.

  • Location: Sterling, IL
  • Work Arrangement: On-site
  • Schedule: 1st Shift, Monday-Friday, 6:30 AM-2:30 PM
  • Pay: $19.40 - $20.75/hour
  • Employment Type: Full-time / Hourly
  • Overtime: Overtime may be required based on business needs.

What You'll Do as a Shipping and Receiving Clerk

  • Receive incoming shipments, verify quantities against purchase orders and packing slips, and inspect materials for visible damage or discrepancies.
  • Process outbound shipments by preparing required documentation and staging materials for loading.
  • Accurately enter shipping and receiving transactions into ERP or warehouse systems.
  • Label and organize materials to support traceability and inventory accuracy.
  • Assist with loading and unloading trucks in coordination with material handlers or forklift operators.
  • Prepare basic shipping documentation, including bills of lading and packing lists, under supervision.
  • Maintain organized shipping and receiving areas in accordance with 5S standards and follow established procedures for damaged or non-conforming materials.
  • Communicate shipment status and discrepancies to supervisors or appropriate departments while following established safety procedures for material handling and dock operations.

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Up to 2 years of warehouse, shipping, or clerical experience.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This role involves standing and walking for extended periods during the shift, along with frequent lifting, bending, reaching, and handling of packages or materials.

Employees in this role may lift and carry up to 50 pounds as required and work in a warehouse or manufacturing environment with exposure to noise and moving equipment. The position also requires manual dexterity for handling paperwork and small components and visual acuity to verify labels, counts, and shipping documentation.
