Job Description

Acuren is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Shipper/Receiver to join our dynamic operations team in Richmond, BC!

In this hands-on role, you'll play a key part in keeping our operations running smoothly by managing the flow of materials, equipment, and supplies throughout our warehouse and office. From receiving and organizing incoming shipments to preparing and dispatching outgoing orders, you'll help ensure everything is in the right place at the right time.

Position Details:

  • Location: Richmond, BC

  • Schedule: Monday - Friday - 40 hours per week, with potential for overtime.

  • Rate: Competitive hourly wage, starting at $25.00/hour, depending on experience and skill set.

  • Requirements: Candidates must be local to the area of Richmond, BC

Responsibilities

Preparing items for outgoing shipment by:

  • Determining appropriate method of shipment and arranging shipment pick up;
  • Preparing bills of lading, customer forms, invoices and other shipping documents manually or electronically;
  • Ensuring that orders to be shipped are complete, properly packaged, labeled, and secured on time for shipment as noted on packaging slips;
  • Contacting couriers and transport companies to schedule pickup via telephone and computer.

Processing and organizing items received by the office warehouse by:

  • Inspecting and verifying incoming goods against invoices or other documents and authorizing for correctness of product received;
  • Recording and initiating claims for shortages/overages, damaged or incorrect items received;
  • Contacting transport companies and suppliers in order to expedite, trace or return merchandise that does not conform to specifications or purchase orders;
  • Unpacking, coding and routing goods to the appropriate storage area or department.

Providing shop maintenance, general duties, customer service within the warehouse by:

  • Maintaining internal manual and electronic record keeping systems
  • Operating the forklift or other equipment necessary to load, unload, transport and store goods;
  • Ensuring good housekeeping procedures and safety rules are followed and maintained in the warehouse and yard areas;
  • Maintaining logs, journals and statistics on daily activities and movement of goods;
  • Ensuring the identification organization, storage, cleanliness and working order of inventory items;
  • Participating in auditing and evaluating inventory.

Other work duties as assigned.

Requirements

The position requires understanding and knowledge in the following areas:

  • Knowledge of shipping procedures and transportation principles and methods;
  • Inventory control and FIFO principles;
  • Experience with transportation of dangerous goods;
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).

The position requires the following skills and abilities:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, supplemented by a minimum of 2 years of experience in a warehouse industrial environment and a valid Class 5 driver’s license.
  • Valid forklift ticket
  • TDG certification required
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment that includes heavy lifting up to 25 kg;
  • Ability to work under tight time constraints and adapt easily to changing priorities
  • Superior organizational, interpersonal, communication, and problem solving skills and a strong attention to detail;
  • Consistently demonstrates their understanding of, and compliance with, responsibilities under the provincial Occupational Health and Safety Acts and Regulations, and Acuren Safety and Quality Management Systems, polices and procedures;
  • Ability to multi task, organize tasks and manage time wisely;
  • Work in team-based dynamic shop environment with many operating groups; and
  • Understanding of, and compliance with, responsibilities under the provincial Occupational Health and Safety Acts and Regulation, and Acuren Safety and Quality Management Systems, policies and procedures.
