The Receiver will be responsible for performing material receiving functions and internal product scheduling for the department.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Inspect the physical condition of raw components upon receipt, make sure to notate any issues on the vendor paperwork and Samuel paperwork
  • Inform Quality and Management of any deficiencies, non-conformance, defective material
  • Receive good components into the AS400 system interfacing with delivery personnel, other internal departments and vendors as required. MTR’s must be scanned into Samuel’s imaging system.
  • Assure material is tagged with the Samuel stock tag and is visible
  • Pull coil and put away coils for the CTL
  • Unload all incoming vendor shipments and locate them to the proper location
  • Put received material into the racks using a side loader or forklift.
  • Perform scheduling and tracking of trucks when vendors come to drop off material.
  • Provide systemic support for departments including the shipping area in addition to the Tampa branch
  • Must be able to work well across departments
  • Key support individual for annual inventories in both Alpharetta and Tampa locations
  • Must follow all Samuel Safety policies, and ISO procedures
  • Additional tasks may be assigned

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prior experience in Receiving, preferably in a steel processing or manufacturing environment, is desirable.
  • Good mathematical competencies.
  • Attention to accuracy and detail.
  • Ability to work in fast paced, deadline driven environment.
  • Familiarity with different types of steel materials, their properties, and handling requirements is beneficial.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with team members, supervisors, and other departments.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational abilities to manage inventory, prioritize tasks, and ensure accurate documentation.
  • Able to read a tape measure to the sixteenth. Experience with micrometers and calipers preferred

EQUIPMENT KNOWLEDGE:

  • Experience using computers
  • Computer software including AS400, Microsoft Office
  • Scan gun
  • Forklift and Crane experience is beneficial

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to spend 80% of the day standing.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs (22.7kg) maximum occasionally with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs (11.3kg).
