The Operations Shipping/Receiving employee is primarily responsible for assisting with the receipt of incoming white wood and treated trucks as well as verifying the product on outgoing trucks. (this includes but not limited to the completion of load documents, tallies, bills of lading, basic verification to poles moisture content for untreated poles, etc.) They also perform rehandling tasks as needed in the plant and yard.
Responsibilities
• Work in compliance with all company rules and regulations.
• Follow all company Health & Safety policies and SOPs.
• Wear all PPE required and work in a safe manner.
• Participate in all company mandated training in good faith.
• Come to work prepared (both mentally and materially) to work in a variety of environments (all seasons, indoors & outdoors).
• Have excellent knowledge of operations and processes as necessary to the position.
• Complete appropriate forms legibly and clearly.
• Perform computer functions as necessary to complete assigned paperwork.
• Pay close attention to detail in all aspects of the position (, filling out receiving paperwork, tallying trucks to ensure accuracy).
• Quality inspections upon receipt which includes, but not limited to:
◦ Inspecting 100 % of the poles for any visual defects (treated /untreated)
◦ Inspect 100 % of untreated wood for their moisture content (either by using a moisture meter, lab moisture oven, or visual method). separate the poles based on their MC in different pre-designated bunks.
◦ Ensure we received right customer type (GU/HO) and count of treated poles for treated poles.
• Operate equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
• Maintain good housekeeping in all assigned areas.
• Abide to OHSA (Occupational Health and Safety Act) workplace health and safety standards.
• Report all Health & Safety issues immediately.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• High School Diploma/GED.
• Loader experience preferred.
• Proficiency in English.
• Stand/walk for significant periods of time.
• Be able to lift 50lbs unassisted.
• Good manual dexterity, hand eye co-ordination.
• Comfortable completing repetitive tasks.
• Attention to details.
• Excellent trouble-shooting skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Basic math skills.
