About the Role
As a Shift Technician Chargeman, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and continuous operation of electrical systems and facilities that support Nexperia's manufacturing operations. You will be responsible for maintaining electrical infrastructure, responding to equipment breakdowns, supporting facility operations, and ensuring compliance with statutory and safety requirements to enable uninterrupted production.
What You Will Do
- Respond promptly to machine breakdowns and electrical system faults to minimize production downtime and ensure operational continuity.
- Perform routine inspections, condition-based monitoring, and preventive maintenance on electrical installations, power distribution systems, and facility equipment.
- Monitor the performance and condition of electrical assets, identify abnormalities, and report findings with recommended corrective actions.
- Support daily facilities maintenance activities by coordinating and supervising maintenance personnel and contractors when required.
- Assist Facility Engineers and Supervisors in troubleshooting electrical issues and implementing effective solutions to improve equipment reliability.
- Support commissioning, installation, modification, and troubleshooting activities for facility systems and production equipment.
- Conduct electrical quality inspections and daily health checks on critical facility infrastructure to ensure operational readiness and compliance.
- Ensure all incidents, equipment failures, and breakdowns are investigated, rectified, and closed within agreed response and recovery timelines.
- Participate in planned shutdown activities, emergency maintenance works, and after-hours interventions when required to support business operations.
- Assist in developing, implementing, and standardizing maintenance procedures and work instructions for electrical and facility systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain safe and reliable operation of utilities and facility services supporting manufacturing processes.
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with company safety requirements, electrical regulations, and statutory obligations under the Electricity Supply Act and related regulations.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection reports, and shift handover documentation.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing equipment reliability, operational efficiency, and energy performance.
What You Need to Have
Education & Certification
- Diploma, Certificate, or equivalent Technical Qualification in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, or a related discipline.
- Valid Chargeman certification issued by Suruhanjaya Tenaga (AO, A1, A4, or equivalent qualification relevant to the facility requirements).
- Competent person certification and registration with relevant authorities is an added advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical maintenance, facilities operations, utilities, semiconductor manufacturing, electronics manufacturing, or industrial environments.
- Hands-on experience in troubleshooting electrical systems, power distribution equipment, motor control systems, switchboards, and facility infrastructure.
- Experience supporting critical facilities and utility systems is preferred.
Technical Competencies
- Sound knowledge of low-voltage electrical systems, electrical protection systems, and power distribution networks.
- Familiarity with preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, and condition monitoring techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
- Good understanding of electrical safety standards, lockout-tagout (LOTO) practices, and statutory compliance requirements.
- Knowledge of facility utility systems and critical infrastructure operations is an advantage.
