We’re thrilled to have been awarded a 10-year Operations & Maintenance contract by WELP at the world’s first commercial scale plastic recycling plant and are now looking to form our amazing site team.
Based in Teesside, you’ll be key in delivering excellence in safe, efficient operations and maintenance using HydroPRS™ technology to chemically recycle end-of-life plastic. Joining us as we commission and start up, your experience and contributions will see us achieve recycling of over 20,000 tonnes of waste plastic each year, with the scope for expansion as we grow.
The Opportunity
We are now recruiting for a Shift Team Leader.
The Shift Team Leader is responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the plant during their shift. They provide leadership to the operations team, ensuring production targets are achieved while maintaining the highest standards of safety, environmental performance, and asset integrity.
You’ll be supported with personalised on the job training, coaching, mentoring and twice-yearly development and performance reviews to help maintain & develop your contributions and competence.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage allocated shift personnel to ensure safe and effective plant operation.
- Ensure compliance with all site safety rules, procedures, permits, and statutory requirements.
- Monitor and optimise plant performance to meet production and quality targets.
- Coordinate plant start-ups, shutdowns, and operational changes.
- Manage shift handovers and maintain accurate operational records and logs.
- Authorise and oversee permit-to-work activities within their area of responsibility.
- Coordinate response to plant upsets, alarms, emergencies, and abnormal operating conditions.
- Ensure routine inspections, sampling, and operational checks are completed.
- Support maintenance activities through isolation, preparation, and reinstatement of plant equipment.
- Identify and report safety, environmental, quality, and reliability concerns.
- Develop, coach, and mentor operations personnel to improve competence and performance.
- Ensure training requirements and competency standards are maintained for shift team members.
- Liaise with maintenance, engineering and management teams to prioritise work activities.
- Ensure compliance with site environmental permits and company policies.
- Provide emergency response and incident management in line with the emergency response plan and associated training.
- Prepared to lead operational meeting as required.
Minimum Requirements
- HNC in production or equivalent experience in an industrial environment and PPO 3 or equivalent.
- Experience of managing chemical process plant operations and/or waste recycling/material handling operations, maintenance, or engineering in a 24/7 operational environment.
- Contributing to plant systems, upgrades, improvements & modifications (Management of Change).
- Safe System of Work processes & procedures: permit to work, Incident control, Risk assessments method statements.
- Understanding & application of SHE requirements at work.
- Knowledge of Control Room Operations (Delta V)
