Job Description

The Production Foreman is responsible for overseeing daily production on the shop floor. This includes employee supervision and/or coaching, meeting manpower requirements and placements, as well as on-the-job training for employees.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Meet daily workforce and scheduling requirements, manage absentee coverage.
  • Overall performance measures of the shift.
  • Provide on-the-job training to employees.
  • Maintain and uphold all quality standards of the organization, including enforcing all policies and procedures regarding safety, quality, housekeeping, attendance, conduct, drug free safety program, etc.
  • Maintain an accurate record of all production activities.
  • Evaluate team performance.
  • Interact with other departments when necessary to ensure proper system function.
  • Troubleshoot process, equipment and quality problems to facilitate maximizing efficiency.
  • Initiate new job start-ups when required.
  • Effectively manage scrap control and reduction.
  • Engage in plan development and implementation.
  • Delegate work to subordinates when necessary to ensure efficiency and timely completion of all tasks.
  • Complete necessary documentation and file appropriately.
  • Learn the new JDE operating system becoming proficient at using it.
  • Ensure that all completed orders are closed out and the product is transferred to the correct location.
  • Required attendance at daily production meetings.
  • Must maintain current certification for First Aid/CPR/AED.
  • Complete Annual Training for Drug Free Safety Program.
  • Interact with Maintenance to maximize efficiency of all production lines.

Requirements

Qualifications and Experience

  • HS diploma or GED equivalent; Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or Management preferred.
  • Three to five years of production supervisory experience.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office including Word and Excel.
  • Flexible Schedule and ability to work overtime when needed.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and provide preventative maintenance and thorough knowledge of occupational hazards and corresponding safety precautions necessary for the safe performance of all duties.
