Shift Supervisor

Full-Time | 37.5 hrs/week

Make a Difference Every Shift

Join BRC in a leadership role that helps ensure safety, stability, and support for individuals experiencing homelessness. As a Shift Supervisor, you’ll oversee frontline staff, maintain shelter operations, and ensure policies and safety procedures are followed.

What You’ll Do

  • Supervise Community Technicians and operations support staff
  • Oversee daily shelter operations, ensuring safety, security, and fire safety compliance
  • Ensure staff follow all agency policies, procedures, and documentation standards
  • Review and maintain accurate records, reports, and clinical notes
  • Respond to incidents and provide guidance to staff as needed
  • Participate in weekly program and leadership meetings
  • Provide emergency First Aid/CPR assistance when required
  • Perform related duties as assigned

Schedule

  • Full-time, 37.5 hours per week
  • Programs operate 24/7; various morning, evening, and overnight schedules available

Who We’re Looking For

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Experience working in homeless shelters or similar settings preferred
  • At least one year of supervisory or lead experience preferred
  • Knowledge of addiction and recovery processes
  • Strong computer literacy and documentation skills
  • First Aid and Fire Safety certifications required (or willingness to obtain)
  • CPR certification required (or willingness to obtain)

BRC is one of New York City's largest providers of housing and services for individuals experiencing homelessness. Founded in 1971 by a group of recovering alcoholics living in poverty in the Bowery’s infamous flophouses, these individuals had hope, and a firm belief that better days lay ahead.

BRC serves nearly 13,000 individuals each year, operating more than 30 programs throughout the greater metropolitan area. The organization’s robust continuum of housing and services includes over 3,700 units of transitional and permanent housing; outreach and case management programs; and substance use and medical services. Together, these programs offer a caring and effective path from homelessness to home, providing comprehensive services that guide everyone on their unique journey.
