POSITION SCOPE

The Shift Supervisor is responsible for providing leadership to hourly team members at the Caldwell Plant on a rotating-shift basis. Key areas of focus include safety, crew development, productivity, quality, reliability, cost control and team engagement. The Operations consists of the following manufacturing areas: Laminating, Slitting, Converting, Shipping and Maintenance. The Shift Supervisor is a critical leadership position in the organization. The position has direct responsibility for approximately 20 employees per shift in a union environment in multiple manufacturing areas. Success relies on the Supervisor‘s ability to understand and improve current processes, build relationships and fully engage all crew members in business improvement.

QUALIFICATIONS

· Proven leadership skills required.

· Strong verbal and written communication skills required.

· Previous manufacturing leadership experience required.

· Experience in Laminating/Converting operations processes strongly preferred.

· Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is required.

· Lean/Continuous Improvement and Quality Management Systems experience required.

· Experience in reading and understanding product specifications.

EDUCATION

· Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a operations management, engineering, industrial technology or equivalent successful manufacturing management experience required.

RESPONSIBILITIES

· Safely lead crew of operating personnel on a rotating-shift basis in Laminating, Slitting, Converting, Shipping and Maintenance areas.

· Manage employee safety.

· Utilize available line speed targets, set up time guidelines, efficiency logs, and process data collection tools to improve productivity.

· Manage product quality by understanding and communicating customer needs to crews and insuring expectations are consistently met.

· Improve equipment availability and reliability.

· Utilize Lean/Six Sigma methodologies for processes related to management of the plant floor.

· Attend annual GMP and HACCP Training Sessions.

· Is aware of our food safety policy and programs.

· Upholds and enforces GMP and HACCP Principals.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/COMPETENCIES

· A successful Shift Supervisor must have strong interpersonal skills, effective communication skills, and be able to successfully manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing work environment.
