Shift Supervisor

The Shift Supervisor is responsible for leading store operations and personnel in the absence of the store manager and assistant manager. This individual will be the go-to person for the salesclerks to get guidance and assistance during their shift. The Shift Leader will ensure company policies and procedures are followed; while delivering a high level of customer service, overseeing store safety and overall store appearance. The successful candidate must have excellent customer service skills, great oral and written communication, be organized and detail-oriented, and demonstrate the ability to lead by example.

Duties include:

• Coach and direct employees to provide excellent customer service
• Maintain an awareness of cleanliness both inside and outside of the store
• Develop and assign tasks to staff members and oversee completion of tasks
• Order and receive merchandise utilizing inventory ordering guidelines
• Maintain cash and inventory control during all supervised shifts
• Report all environment, maintenance issues and unusual occurrences to the proper authority as well as management personnel
• Open and close registers for staff members, count register drawers, and resolve cash overages and shortages
• Review end of day reports and assist in preparation of daily paperwork as assigned by manager
• Audit cashier paperwork for accuracy
• Resolve customer issues and approve exceptions to policy for coupons, returns, etc.
• Train new hires and create development opportunities for experienced staff members
• Provide recognition and constructive feedback throughout the shift as appropriate

Qualifications and Requirements

• Candidate must be at least 18 years old
• At least 6 months of experience in the Sales Clerk/Cashier role
• Previous leadership experience and/or demonstrated leadership ability
• Capable of working well without supervision
• Flexibility to work weekend, holiday and/or evening shifts
• Must have reliable transportation
• Excellent customer service skills and demonstrated problem solving skills

· Ability to effectively communicate with teammates, management, and guests

· Knowledge of store policies and procedures

· Ability to read and understand English

· Ability to read and understand numbers, count, add/subtract

· Great attention to detail

· Excellent organizational skills

· Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
