Volunteers of America–Greater New York (VOA–Greater New York) is a leading anti-poverty organization serving neighbors in need across New York City, Northern New Jersey, and Westchester. Through 70+ programs, we support over 35,000 adults and children each year, including individuals experiencing homelessness, survivors of domestic violence, youth aging out of foster care, veterans, seniors, and children with developmental delays.

We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the following position:

Position: Shift Supervisor

The Shift Supervisor assists clients and guest ensuring that their requests are met. They coordinate the non-clinical needs of families and guest, by greeting, managing, maintaining security and coordinating the operations of the client care team. The Shift Supervisor orients clients to the program and engages clients in services, protect client rights, promotes client and coworker safety and clarify facility rules.

Empower Residence is a 24/7 transitional housing program for women, operating under HRA/DSS guidelines. As an enhanced shelter, we support residents facing challenges such as mental health needs, substance use, unemployment, and poverty. Location: New York, NY 10023

Minimum Qualifications:
• High School diploma or GED with at least two years of relevant experience.
• Must be able to perform diverse tasks with ease and maintain confidentiality.

Certifications that are required within 90 days of hire (3 months) VOA will cover the cost:
• Coordinator of Fire Safety & Alarms (F80)
• Food Service Handler Certificate
• Fire Guard (F02)

Certifications that are required within 180 days of hire (6 months) VOA will cover the cost:
• CPR/First Aid Certificate

Shift Supervisor Principal Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for all functions of the program when Program Director, Associate Program Director of Operations are not on-site.
2. Directs all front desk staff, private security workers and resident service workers activities to ensure adherence to policy and procedures.
3. Ensures client care, new intakes, and is main liaison between funder while on duty. Oversee client participation in daily program activities. Provide optimal customer service.
4. Ensure proper documentation of front desk activities.
5. Provide emergency assistance to residents as needed and supervise incident management system.
6. Monitor building safety.
7. Conduct rounds at residence as assigned
