Job Description

The GRIT program is seeking a Shift Supervisor to provide leadership and support within our recovery services team. You will guide the Recovery Specialist team, support residents in their recovery, oversee daily operations, and ensure a safe, structured, and recovery-focused environment. Acting as a liaison between staff and leadership, you will model wellness, promote recovery principles, and help maintain program standards while making a meaningful impact on both residents and the team.

Pay Rate: $21 an hour

Open Shift: Monday through Friday 10am-6pm (40hrs)

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide training, onboarding, and ongoing support to RS staff; monitor performance and provide feedback to the Supervisor and Program Director.
  • Monitor completion and quality of daily Service Notes and RS tasks, including resident financials and program sharps, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
  • Assist the Supervisor with scheduling, staff coverage coordination, supervision meetings, and co-facilitating mandatory monthly RS meetings.
  • Participate in the admissions process by leading engagement and orientation for new residents.
  • Support residents through crisis de-escalation, incident report completion, UDS preparation, and attendance at monthly treatment team meetings.
  • Organize activities, outings, recovery groups, educational workshops, and community engagement opportunities to promote resident growth.
  • Provide hands-on support with appointments, transportation coordination, goal planning, transition, and aftercare preparation.
  • Maintain required tracking systems (including drills), communicate effectively with team members regarding resident progress, and uphold program policies, confidentiality, and ethical standards.

About the GRIT Program

The GRIT program at MHA provides residential rehabilitation for individuals with substance use challenges and co-occurring mental health conditions. Residents participate in individualized counseling, recovery-focused programming, and community activities such as education, job training, or employment, all within a structured and supportive environment. With locations in Springfield (men’s programs) and Holyoke (LGBTQIA+ program), GRIT combines the comforts of home with access to vital resources. A skilled, multidisciplinary team works closely with each resident to support recovery, personal growth, and long-term stability, while creating personalized aftercare plans for a successful return to the community.

Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, sufficient automobile insurance, and an acceptable driving record.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team, work independently, manage time, prioritize tasks, take initiative, follow through, and work cooperatively as a member of a team
  • Good oral, written, computer, and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to the changing needs of the program participants
  • Strong interpersonal skills, patience, caring, and compassion
  • Must be at least eighteen years old
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • At least one year of applicable experience in the program environment is preferred. Experience with individuals with substance use and/or mental health challenges preferred.
