The Residence Coordinator is responsible for overseeing daily staff assignments and ensuring the residence operates in accordance with agency policies. This role provides comprehensive support to residents to promote independence, skill development, and overall well-being. Proficiency in basic computer systems (Outlook, Microsoft Office, Excel, etc.) is required.
Essential Responsibilities
Promote resident independence, dignity, social responsibility, and personal growth through supportive daily interactions.
Implement individualized goals established by the IDT, including budgeting, grooming, nutritional planning, transportation training, community resource use, shopping, and housekeeping. Document consumer data in Avatar.
Provide daily supervision to DSPs, including reviewing documentation, assigning tasks, and supporting staff training and orientation. Serve as a positive role model for staff and residents.
Assist residents with personal needs and activities of daily living.
Support residents in developing self-help and social skills.
Participate in interdisciplinary team activities including assessment, planning, implementation, monitoring, and family communication.
Administer medications and maintain required medical certifications.
Coordinate and participate in recreational activities.
Transport residents to appointments, activities, and programs as needed.
Communicate relevant updates to staff and supervisors through written and verbal communication (logs, incident reports, medication documentation, etc.).
Assist in managing residents’ financial accounts, including banking and bill payments, as directed by the Residence Manager.
Attend staff meetings, required trainings, and perform duties aligned with the DSP role.
Safely intervene during crises to prevent harm and administer first aid when necessary.
Successfully complete required trainings including AMAP, CPR, SCIP, First Aid, and EMAR (where applicable).
Maintain confidentiality at all times.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
What You’ll Gain
High School Diploma required Associates Degree preferred or a combination of education and experience. One to two years of experience working with the developmentally disabled is necessary. Supervisory experience preferred. A valid NYS Drivers license is required.
