Poplars AD Plant, Cannock (WS11 8NQ)
Salary: £40,560.00 per annum
Hours: Average 42 hours per week
Shift Pattern: 4 Days On, 4 Days Off, 4 Nights On, 4 Days Off
Day Shifts: 07:00 – 19:00 | Night Shifts: 19:00 – 07:00
Shift Allowance: 10% additional payment for night shifts worked between 19:00 and 07:00
Cover Shifts: Plus paid 26 cover shifts per year

We're looking for a skilled Shift Fitter to join our team at Poplars AD Plant. Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, you'll play a key role in keeping our anaerobic digestion facility running safely, efficiently and reliably through proactive maintenance and rapid fault response.

Your core responsibilities

  • Deliver planned and reactive maintenance across the plant.
  • Diagnose faults quickly and carry out effective repairs.
  • Support installation work and equipment improvements.
  • Drive plant reliability, uptime and continuous improvement.
  • Work closely with operations teams to minimise downtime.
  • Coordinate specialist maintenance activities with contractors.
  • Maintain high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance.
  • Support preventative maintenance programmes and root cause analysis.

Our essential requirements

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a Mechanical or Electrical Fitter role.
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced process, manufacturing, waste, water or industrial environment.
  • Understanding of planned preventative maintenance principles.
  • Ability to prioritise and respond effectively to breakdowns.
  • Relevant Mechanical or Electrical Engineering qualification preferred.
  • We welcome applications from candidates with experience as a Mechanical Fitter, Electrical Fitter, Maintenance Technician, Maintenance Engineer, Multi-Skilled Engineer, Mechanical Maintenance Technician, Electrical Maintenance Technician, Plant Fitter, Plant Maintenance Engineer, Service Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Electrical Engineer, Production Maintenance Technician, Industrial Maintenance Technician, Shift Engineer, or from similar maintenance and engineering backgrounds within manufacturing, process plant, waste, recycling, utilities, water treatment, energy, FMCG, chemical processing, quarrying, aggregates, and heavy industry environments.
