II. JOB TITLE DESCRIPTION

Main tasks and responsibilities

Job purpose:

The purpose of the job is to manage and organize the assigned production shift to carry out production according with the valid budget and planning and to achieve its objectives in terms of quality, cost and efficiencies.

The working areas include all production activities, housekeeping of the working areas of the department, safety at work of own shift and fire protection during the shift.

The work must be carried out in an efficient and safe way; following the rules and legislation regarding industrial safety, labor safety and ecology in a efficient and proper way that Rockwool Romania at any time is fulfilling the demands given by law and authorities.

The job holder is responsible for the operating area of the assigned production shift. This include all activities from the arrival of raw materials, taking of raw materials from the stock and preparation for production, carrying out of production according to the production plan, carrying out of the on line visual verification, housekeeping of the working areas and carrying out of preparation and cleaning tasks during the technical stops in the shifts.

The shift leader tasks are closer defined as:

General Management, Reporting, Production and Quality:

  • Leading the team of operators and coordinating employees from other departments during the shift.
  • Conveying strategies and reaching goals communicated by the Production Manager.
  • Participating, along with the Production Manager, in the education and development of motivation as well as the annual evaluation of subordinate.
  • Organizing production in a shift according with the production plan, fulfilling relevant jobs and giving correct work to subordinates.
  • Conducting activities required for ensure the necessary quality of the products.
  • Supervising the conducting of the production process foreseen for each position.
  • Responsibility for the verification and inserting of key figures in production.
  • Organizing necessary resources (employees, tools, material), leading subcontractors and supervising work during the weekly technical stoppage.
  • Participating in the continued implementation of the production process, developing activities for rationalization and new technologies adapted for the area of work.
  • Responsible for the preservation and direct maintenance of the means of production.
  • Ensuring the availability of material for each position.
  • Suggesting changes in the production organization.
  • Supervising attendance and analyzing human resources requirements.
  • Participating in the ensuring of order and cleanliness in production.
  • Supervising special production operations.
  • Participating actively in projects with other departments to lower total costs.

Safety and Housekeeping:

  • Supervising the implementation of occupational safety regulations, ensuring that all employees in a shift have the required occupational safety equipment and know how to use them properly.
  • Participating in risk assessment, analyzing workplace accidents, planning activities for the improvement of safety and occupational safety.
  • Participating in all required measures of occupational safety, as well as encouraging safe behavior among employees during a shift.
  • Educating subordinates in measures and requirements of occupational safety, especially new employees.
  • Responsibility for maintaining housekeeping of all the parts of the production plant from the stone, briquettes and coke warehouse to the loading area for milled wool and fly ash.

Environment:

  • Implementing environmental protection instructions, procedures and other requirements issued and approved by the Process, Quality and Ecology Department which affect their work area.
  • Participating actively in all projects in the field of environmental protection which are being conducted within the factory, optimization and attaining of goals required by the environmental protection system.
  • Planning and developing work with possible environmental effects in mind, planning changes or new projects depending on the requirements of the Process, Quality and Ecology Department.
  • Avoiding or minimizing risks in all situations and work which can affect environmental protection, notifying the Process, Quality and Ecology Department of all unplanned events (pollution, leakage, accidents) which can happen.

The employee has to carry out all other ad hoc tasks defined by his superior also with respect to the legal requirements.
