About the Role

Step Into Leadership From Day One

We're hiring two Shift Leads for our upcoming Paradise Valley location, opening Fall 2026. This is a ground-floor leadership opportunity — you'll join before we open and help set the standard for how we operate, serve guests, and show up for each other every day.

As Shift Lead, you're the second-in-command on the floor. You bring the same hospitality instincts as our Barista team, paired with the confidence to lead a shift, support your teammates, and make real-time decisions when the General Manager isn't present. You own your shift from start to finish.

We're looking for two people to fill the following schedules:

  • AM Lead: Tuesday – Saturday
  • PM Lead: Sunday – Thursday

Responsibilities

Pre-Opening

  • Participate in onboarding and training prior to opening
  • Learn company service standards, operating procedures, and product knowledge at a leadership level
  • Assist with café setup, merchandising, and operational readiness
  • Help facilitate team training and support Barista onboarding alongside the General Manager
  • Support grand opening events and launch activities

Shift Leadership & Operations

  • Open or close the location according to established procedures — you own the shift, start to finish
  • Lead and direct the Barista team — assign tasks, manage pace, and step in where needed
  • Monitor floor coverage and adjust team positioning in real time based on traffic
  • Complete shift reports and communicate key updates to the General Manager daily
  • Flag any team performance concerns, guest feedback, or operational issues promptly

Guest Experience & Hospitality

  • Model the exceptional, attentive guest experience expected of every team member
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for guests when the General Manager is not present
  • Handle escalations, complaints, and special requests with confidence and good judgment
  • Build relationships with regulars and help create a sense of community

Beverage & Product

  • Prepare and serve all menu items to company standards with consistency and care
  • Maintain strong product knowledge and confidently educate guests and team members
  • Uphold quality, presentation, and food safety standards across every shift

Operations & Standards

  • Receive and verify product deliveries from our Phoenix production warehouse
  • Operate the POS system accurately and oversee cash handling procedures
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and visual standards throughout the café
  • Follow and enforce opening, closing, and daily operational procedures

Requirements

  • Experience in coffee, food service, retail, or hospitality — with some lead, keyholder, or supervisory experience preferred
  • A natural leader who steps up without being asked and stays calm under pressure
  • Genuine passion for hospitality and elevating the guest experience
  • Strong communication skills — with guests and with your team
  • Comfortable handling cash, operating POS, and managing product receiving
  • Reliable, punctual, and accountable
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 pounds
  • Full-time availability for assigned schedule (AM: Tue–Sat or PM: Sun–Thurs), including early mornings, weekends, and holidays
  • Must be at least 18 years old

Benefits

  • Competitive hourly pay plus tips
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance (eligible employees)
  • Employee product discounts
  • Paid pre-opening training and development
  • Opportunity to step into a leadership role at a growing company from day one
Too Sweet Cakes

About Too Sweet Cakes

Every great story starts with a dream—and ours began with a simple one: to create pastries that not only tasted incredible but made people feel cared for.

Too Sweet Cakes was founded in 2016 by Shelbi Geyer, whose love for baking started as a young girl, sketching cake designs and dreaming of one day opening her own bakery. That dream stayed with her, fueled by a passion for creativity, connection, and a belief that food could be something truly meaningful.

What started as a small wholesale bakery quickly grew into something more. In 2018, we opened our first storefront in Bend, Oregon, creating a space where pastries weren’t just desserts—they were memories in the making. From there Too Sweet Cakes expanded to Lake Oswego, and today, we proudly operate four retail locations across Oregon and Arizona, with a fifth location opening in 2026 in Paradise Valley, Arizona.

Beyond our storefronts, you’ll find Too Sweet Cakes pastries featured in over 100 locations across Oregon, Washington, and Arizona. It’s been an incredible journey—one made possible by the extraordinary team who has brought their talents, heart, and dedication into every part of the business.

Our team of bakers, decorators, and visionaries are the heartbeat of Too Sweet Cakes. Together, we share a mission that’s never changed: to love people well through pastries.

As we continue to grow, we remain rooted in the values that sparked it all—creativity, community, and a deep love for making people feel special. We are so grateful to every customer, partner, and community who has supported our journey—and we can’t wait to celebrate even more sweet moments with you, one bite at a time.
