SUMMARY OF POSITION
Under the direction of the Supervisor, the Shift Lead, will assist everyday production needs based on those needs on a day-by-day basis which will include but not limited to help with shift startup and shutdown of presses and equipment, assist in minor repairs on equipment, conduct scheduled checks and audits on equipment and serve as a backup in multiple roles where needed. Performs various duties to support the manufacturing function by assisting and acting as a multi disciplined backup on the manufacturing floor as needed
JOB DUTIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist with the following functions under general supervision of the Shift Supervisor.
- Performs backup duties in multiple roles which include to cover for Absences or vacations.
- Ensures compliance with company quality assurance policies and established standards, such as ISO/IATF 16949, etc., by assisting in developing and maintaining of work instructions and standard operating procedure to ensure quality products and timely delivery.
- Audits for accurate shop floor reporting process to sustain positive inventory control on the manufacturing floor by reviewing timekeeping and production reports for accuracy and completeness. Ensure adherence to transactional discipline occurs. Completes necessary ERP transactions.
- Develop specific short-term procedures within the department where a good working knowledge of practices and procedures is required to facilitate continuous production.
- Check production schedules to ensure that the necessary product is available for processing and optimum efficiency may be obtained including reporting problems and monitoring corrective action. Review master production schedule and coordinate with supervisor, production planner or production manager necessary change to ensure schedule attainment is achieved.
- Monitors statistical process control data, quality concerns and other production related data, and ensures it is charted using existing quality control instructions and procedures to maintain or increase production efficiency.
- As needed, inform necessary personnel, workflow and possible constraints with respect to meeting the production schedule to maintain open communication channels and facilitate proactive approach to problem resolution.
- Facilitates the implementation of continuous improvement principles and procedures, such as Kaizen, by assuming a leadership role in the continuous improvement initiative, evaluating cost-effective methods and procedures, and promoting a teach approach to the improvement of production flow or processing.
- Completes required checks and audits as requires; 5s, LPA, Safety, Scrap, etc.
- Conducts periodic check throughout the shift to ensure adherence to production and scrap targets are met and perform escalation when required.
- Ensure necessary operator level PMs are completed. Make necessary adjustments and/or repairs to equipment at the floor level.
- Completes and performs other duties/tasks as may be assigned.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES):
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- 1 – 2 years related experience
- Able to work in a fast-paced and at time stressful environment
- Must be dependable and have excellent attendance record.
