Position

Shift Engineer – Facility Management

Reporting To

Building Manager / Technical Manager

Purpose of the Role

To ensure the smooth operation, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting of all MEP (Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing) systems in the building during the assigned shift while maintaining safety, statutory compliance, and uninterrupted services.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Operations

• Monitor and operate all MEP systems, including Electrical, HVAC, DG Sets, UPS, Fire Fighting, Plumbing, STP, WTP, and BMS.
• Ensure uninterrupted operation of all building services during the shift.
• Attend and resolve breakdowns and emergency situations promptly.
• Coordinate with vendors for maintenance and repair activities.

Preventive Maintenance

• Execute preventive maintenance (PPM) as per the maintenance schedule.
• Ensure all maintenance records and checklists are updated.
• Monitor equipment performance and recommend corrective actions.

Safety & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with safety standards, PTW (Permit to Work), and statutory regulations.
• Conduct regular safety inspections and identify unsafe conditions.
• Ensure all technicians and contractors use the required PPE.
• Report incidents, near misses, and hazards immediately.

Team Management

• Supervise technicians and contractors during the shift.
• Allocate daily work and monitor task completion.
• Provide technical guidance to the maintenance team.

Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain shift logbooks and equipment history.
• Record utility readings and operating parameters.
• Prepare daily shift reports and hand over pending issues to the next shift.
• Update CMMS/maintenance records.

Client Coordination

• Attend client complaints related to technical services.
• Ensure complaints are resolved within the agreed SLA.
• Coordinate with stakeholders regarding shutdowns and maintenance activities.

Emergency Response

• Handle power failures, fire alarms, water leakages, HVAC failures, and other emergencies.
• Participate in mock drills and emergency response activities.
• Ensure emergency equipment is always operational.
