The company offers the opportunity to those who wish to express interest in the position of ‘ Shift Engineer’ | ‘Μηχανικός Βάρδιας’, for its premises in Skouries Chalkidiki. The position will be reported to the Underground Mine Manager of the Skouries Underground Mine department in Skouries.

Main Responsibilities:

1. Safety Oversight:

o Ensure the safe execution of works and compliance with all statutory requirements, rules, and regulations.

o Ensure Hellas Gold’s and Contractors' employees follow all relevant Standard Operating Procedures.

o Review Job Safety Analyis (JSA) for works not covered by the existing SOPs.

o Authorize the stoppage of work if unsafe acts or practices are observed.

o Conduct daily safety inspections in all working areas and perform gas measurements.

o Ensure all signage and barricading are in place and maintained to correct standards.

2. Operational Oversight:

o Supervise underground works performed by Hellas Gold and contractor personnel during the shift.

o Ensure visitor safety underground.

o Verify compliance with Ground Support Guidelines and complete QA/QC checks of installations.

o Inspect shotcrete quality and verify thickness testing.

o Ensure equipment pre-start inspections and safety system checks are completed.

o Verify that all underground personnel have completed their relevant Safety System checks or cards.

3. Environmental Oversight:

o Maintain environmental compliance during the shift and ensure controls are implemented as designed.

o Prevent uncontrolled discharges to land/water through proactive inspections and timely corrective actions.

o Ensure hazardous materials and wastes are stored, labeled, and managed according to site procedures.

o Ensure that the responsible people inspect and clean the sumps on a scheduled basis.

o Maintain high housekeeping standards to reduce contamination risk (e.g., oily rags, contaminated soil, poor bunding).

o Ensure environmental incidents, near misses, and non-conformances are reported and investigated promptly.

o Coach crews and contractors to follow environmental requirements and safe work practices.

4. Communication and Reporting:

o Participate in daily integrated shift planning and variance meetings.

o Conduct joint risk assessments with contractors.

o Investigate incidents including near misses, first aid, medical treatment, and equipment damage.

o Sign off on Contractors' Daily Shift Records and Attendance Sheets.

o Report violations in accordance with labor and company regulations.

5. Additional Responsibilities:

Perform office-based engineering tasks as required, including documentation, procedures, and contract-related work.

o When requested, undertake training and perform additional functional roles such as:

– Drill and Blast Engineering

– Ventilation Engineering

– Mine Planning and Scheduling

– Materials and Supply Management

– Geotechnical Engineering Support

– Safety Engineering and Risk Management

6. Provide technical handover and communication to preceding and succeeding shifts.

o Ensure the implementation of Safety Rules by stopping unsafe working conditions and reporting any safety violations to the Mine Manager.

o Conduct office work when required (e.g., managing contracts, preparing standard operating procedures, and other assigned projects).

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree as a Mining Engineer or Mineral Resources Engineer.
• Member of the Technical Chamber of Greece.
• At least 2 years’ experience in Underground Mining.
• Ability to communicate and work in a team.
• Ability to demonstrate integrity and self-motivation.
• Ability to apply practical solutions and manage pressure situations.
• Ability to manage a team.
• Very good knowledge of MS Office, AutoCad, Deswik.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Greek and English.
• Driving License.
