This position is responsible for performing a variety of custodial and general cleaning duties on various shifts for the Central Campus and Regional Facilities. An employee in this class is responsible for cleaning assigned areas in accordance with instructions and training provided. An employee needs to understand proper usage of cleaning products and chemicals. Work is assigned and accomplished under an administrative superior and is consistent with a preestablished schedule and routine.
Mops, scrubs, waxes and polishes floors.
Dusts, cleans, polishes and moves furniture.
Sweeps, dusts, damp and wet mops hard and resilient floor surfaces.
Operates a vacuum cleaner to clean carpeted areas.
Washes windows, sweeps and cleans interior/exterior steps, building walls, and walkways.
Cleans lavatory fixtures, floors and walls. Replaces lavatory supplies as needed.
Disposes of wastepaper and recycling and cleans offices, halls and public areas as needed or directed.
Operates mechanical sweepers, buffing machines and small power equipment as needed in the performance of assigned duties. Makes incidental repairs.
Performs custodial duties that need to be done when the building is not occupied so as not to interfere or disrupt the productivity of office staff during their regular work hours.
Uses situational awareness to anticipate and prevent accidents.
Performs related duties as required.
High school diploma or equivalent certification.
Possession of a valid driver’s license.

Position demands understanding and implementing written and verbal instructions. Communicates clearly and authoritatively, orally and in writing. Position may demand stamina to work long hours, occasionally in emergency situations, adverse weather conditions or extended work assignments. Position may require minimal travel. Position requires frequent crouching, kneeling, stooping and lifting or exertion of up to 40 pounds. Works outside of normal business hours for assigned work assignments. Office environment with low levels of noise, adequate lighting and comfortable temperature. Exposure to moderately adverse and undesirable conditions. Physical environment is generally safe, but safety equipment or precautions must be followed in field conditions.
