
SHEQ Manager – Manufacturing
Location: Near Helmsley, York (YO62)
Salary: £50,000–£65,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
Working Pattern: Full-time, 4 days on-site / 1 day remote

With a strong heritage and commitment to quality, the organisation continues to invest in safety, people and performance, and is now seeking an experienced SHEQ Manager to lead quality, health, safety and environmental standards across their operations.
This is a hands-on, visible leadership role offering a unique blend of operational involvement and strategic oversight, with flexibility for one day of home working each week.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the site’s Safety, Health, Environmental & Quality (SHEQ) systems and culture.
Promote and drive continuous improvement in all aspects of SHEQ performance.
Ensure compliance with current legislation, industry regulations, and company policies.
Oversee a small team comprising SHE Advisors and a QA Advisor
Conduct and manage internal and external audits, inspections, and compliance activities.
Maintain and improve risk assessments, safe systems of work (SSOWs), and method statements.
Support incident investigations and lead root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
Oversee key operational areas including HGV fleet safety, contractor control, utilities, site services, and mill compliance.
Deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings and training across the workforce.
Act as the primary liaison with external regulatory bodies and key stakeholders.
About You
NEBOSH Level 6 Diploma (or equivalent) – essential.
Proven QHSE management experience within manufacturing or a high-risk industrial environment.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide and influence across departments.
Sound understanding of legal compliance and best practice in safety management.
Practical, proactive, and comfortable working in operational environments.
Skilled in developing and embedding robust safety and quality processes.
