Job Description
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Coordinate, install and/or repair sheet metal and/or duct systems.
- Assists with the assembly and installation of HVAC equipment as necessary.
- Install hangars or supports for HVAC systems.
- Perform field fabrication of sheet metal and/or duct systems and set up the specific task or project schedule.
- Make adjustments to work sequences to meet construction schedules, using own knowledge of equipment and lower-level personnel capacities.
- Manage materials to ensure timely completion of the work scheduled. Ensure optimal material consumption.
- Inspect work in progress and completed work to ensure conformance to contract and specification.
- Reads blueprints and interprets specifications.
- Correct punch-list items and make distribution as required.
- Attend, as required, all jobsite and office meetings related to assigned projects.
- Keeps equipment in good working order and insures proper and timely maintenance is performed on equipment.
- Ensure the needs of general contractors, owners, and other customers as well as entrusted employees are met.
- Keep the superintendent or project manager aware of all issues affecting production and schedule.
- Serve as a coach and mentor to lower echelon to help them develop and improve their skills and increase their technical knowledge.
- Strengthen skills to encourage improvement in other sheet metal workers. Emphasize commitment to continually improve company procedures and processes int eh be interests of the company.
- Organizes work and utilizes preplanning such as the four week look ahead schedule.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Experience/Qualifications Required:
o5 years commercial experience of sheet metal/HVAC in field operations.
oPrior shop experience a plus.
oStable work history.
oAbility to read blueprints.
oKnowledge of sheet metal/HVAC installation.
oAbility to fabricate offsets.
oWorking knowledge of all hand and power tools.
oAble to do take-offs.
oAble to install equipment.
oWorks within precise limits or standards of accuracy and productivity.
oGood math skills.
oHigh School or GED equivalent.
oJourneyman license a plus.
oTrade School a plus.
oWilling to obtain additional trade licenses and/or certifications.
oEyesight correctable to 20/50.
oAble to work long hours on feet.
oAble to lift and climb ladders and scaffolds.
oAble to perform shift work.
oMust be able to lift objects weighing up to 60 lbs.
oMust be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
oMust not be afraid of heights.
oValid Driver’s License.
oMust provide own basic hand tools.
oOSHA 10 certificate.
