About the Role


We are hiring Sheet Metal Workers to join our fabrication shop team in Akron, Ohio.

This is a shop-based position working on the fabrication floor supporting commercial and industrial HVAC projects.

This is a direct hire opportunity with a pathway to SMART Local #33 union membership within approximately 60–90 days for qualified employees.


We are open to both experienced tradespeople and entry-level candidates who are motivated to learn. Prior sheet metal or HVAC experience is a strong plus, but not required.

Key Responsibilities

Shop Fabrication (Primary Focus)

  • Fabricate ductwork, fittings, transitions, and stainless assemblies 
  • Operate shop equipment including brakes, shears, rolls, plasma tables, and more 
  • Read and interpret shop drawings and SMACNA standards 
  • Assist with or perform TIG/MIG welding as needed 
  • Maintain quality, accuracy, and production standards 
Support & Training

  • Learn fabrication processes and shop workflow 
  • Develop blueprint reading and layout skills 
  • Work alongside experienced sheet metal mechanics 
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop environment 

Qualifications

Required

Preferred (Not Required)

  • Prior sheet metal or HVAC experience 
  • Welding experience (TIG/MIG) 
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification 
  • Construction or manufacturing background 
  • Basic blueprint reading experience 

Work Environment

  • Indoor fabrication shop (primary work location) 
  • Structured production environment 
  • Team-based shop floor setting

Compensation: $16.00 - $25.00 per hour
