Role SHE Advisor

Location Gateshead

Your new role

To facilitate support to and integration within the business management teams, each SHE Advisor has a core geographic responsibility and interfaces with all parts of the business which operate within that geographic area, whilst they are directly managed by and report to the Head of SHE, they have an indirect reporting line to senior managers within the different businesses that operate within their geographic area. Through this structure they form an integral part of the management teams within the businesses within their regional area. The Regional SHE Advisor will also liaise with business heads to ensure there is a common understanding about priorities and initiatives across the Robertson Group as a whole, the individual businesses and the SHE support needed to deliver these.

The core duties are as follows:

  • Report centrally to the regional SHE Manager.
  • Undertake SHE related corporate governance monitoring for the projects
  • Attend all mandatory project pre start meetings with new contractors
  • Support the business in relation to SHE programmes and initiatives
  • Provide a focus on SHE matters
  • Provide advice and guidance to personnel in relation to SHE matters
  • Support SHE Manager with significant SHE investigations
  • Help identify, develop, and as appropriate deliver, SHE training programmes and courses
  • Conduct site inspections and audits in line with agreed programmes
  • Produce written reports in relation to inspections, audits and incident investigations in accordance with agreed procedures and protocols
  • Assess the SHE competence of vendors at Stage 1 of the CDM competence assessment process

QUALIFICATIONS/RELEVANT INDUSTRIAL EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Significant experience in Construction, Tier 1 Contracting/ Principal contractor
  • Working knowledge of ISO 45001, 14001, 9001 etc
  • Previous experience of health and safety, environmental or quality system auditing.
  • NEBOSH Diploma, or equivalent, in occupational health and safety or environmental management.
  • Mental Health First aider
  • ISEP qualification in Environmental/Sustainability Management (formerly IEMA), or equivalent.
  • Member of IOSH - and participation in an ongoing CPD programme.
  • Good communication and IT skills.
  • Commitment to delivering a professional, quality service
