Job Description

This is an accounting role as an Accountant 2 within the Financial Integrity, Transformation & Governance (FITG) organization. The position is responsible for the accounting and monitoring of bad debt reserves across Intuit's primary billing systems, arising from transactional losses (e.g., credit card declines) and other forms of customer non-payment. The role also executes core revenue accounting operations, including deferred revenue and partner payable reconciliations and partner invoicing oversight. The role partners closely with the Credit & Collections team to incorporate updated customer risk information into reserve positions, and ensures reserve balances and revenue-related controls remain within documented materiality and compliance thresholds.

Responsibilities

Bad Debt Reserve Accounting (AR)

  • Perform trend analysis and data analytics to support bad debt reserve methodology, incorporating historical loss trends and current available information on bad debt exposure
  • Partner with the Credit & Collections team to layer in reserve adjustments for troubled or default customer accounts
  • Monitor reserve balances to ensure they remain within documented materiality thresholds; escalate and book additional bad debt expense reserve when thresholds are exceeded
  • Prepare and post journal entries related to bad debt reserve activity across primary billing systems

Revenue Accounting Operations

  • Prepare monthly journal entries related to revenue accounting activity
  • Manage complex account reconciliations for deferred revenue and partner payables
  • Oversee partner invoicing processes
  • Manage partnership matrices and drive cross-functional operational mechanics related to partner accounting
  • Lead process improvement projects, including resolving Varicent sync issues and optimizing revenue streams
  • Close, Controls & Audit Support
  • Prepare and maintain account reconciliations consistent with GAAP and corporate accounting policy, ensuring close timelines are met
  • Participate in the month- and quarter-end close process, including preparation of quarter-end schedules and management slides
  • Prepare SEC-related schedules and supporting documentation as required
  • Maintain SOX control and narrative adherence, including related-party controls; facilitate annual walkthroughs and support external audit requests
  • Prepare and maintain Prepared-by-Client (PBC) documentation and schedules requested by internal and external auditors
  • Ensure adherence to Company accounting policy across bad debt reserve and revenue accounting processes

Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Clearly articulate results, variances, and root cause drivers to management
  • Partner cross-functionally with business unit partners, accounting leads, and internal/external auditors on accounting matters

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Accounting, or Finance.
  • 3-4 years of experience in Order-to-Cash and Reserve accounting methodologies
  • Experience with revenue accounting operations, including deferred revenue and partner payable reconciliations, preferred
  • Ability to manage complexity and work across cross-functional teams (Credit & Collections, accounting leads, audit, partner operations)
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with journal entries, account reconciliations, and quarter-end close processes
  • Familiarity with SOX control environments, including related-party controls, narrative adherence, and audit walkthrough support
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to clearly present variance analysis and root cause to management
