SHAFT AREA SUPERINTENDENT, Phase 3+ Expansion Project
Reporting to Island Gold’s Shaft Area Project Manager, the Shaft Area Superintendent will be involved with construction of a new shaft, heavy civil construction, and commissioning.
The Phase 3+ Expansion of Island Gold to a production rate of 2,400 tpd from the current rate of approximately 1,200 tpd will involve various infrastructure investments. These include the development of a shaft and related facilities, paste backfill plant, mine water treatment facilities, an expansion of the process plant and tailings facility, and power supply upgrades. Following the completion of the shaft in 2026, the operation will transition from trucking to skipping ore and waste to surface through the new shaft infrastructure, driving production higher and unit costs significantly lower.
The successful candidate will have broad experience of construction, procurement, shaft sinking, surface and underground construction, and commissioning. The successful candidate will participate in procurement, managing a shaft sinking contractor, commissioning, operational readiness, and handover of the Shaft Area facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
This position is based at the Island Gold site working on a rotation schedule of 7 days on site followed by 7 days at home, subject to change as the project requires. Flights are available from the Greater Toronto Area (Signature Aviation), Sudbury, Thunder Bay, and Rouyn- Noranda, QC.
