Job Description

The Manufacturing Manager is responsible for leadership of the Shaft Cell COE and its staff and management of the overall value stream including all operational aspects of the Shaft Cell COE. This includes oversight of the upstream demand forecasting, materials planning, and raw material sourcing, NC programming, and other critical functions, loading of the cell for optimum utilization of the cell resources and the raw materials, and oversight of the quality management and logistics for finished products. The Manufacturing Manager will drive programs to support safety, quality, and operational excellence at the site. These will be measured and monitored with KPIs including TRR and LTA, OTD, Past Due Backlog, direct labor utilization and efficiency, throughput, and COPQ.

The Manufacturing Manager is responsible for managing and ensuring that the team provides high quality parts in alignment of customer request dates and manages the utilization of the Shaft Cell COE within the established operating budget and to achieve the target cost per piece produced.

The Shaft Cell COE Manufacturing Manager will be located at the Shaft COE Cell at the Kalamazoo site.

Responsibilities:

  • Approve timecards/set operator schedule/overtime
  • Oversee training development of machinists and logistics
  • Ensure the operators and logistics are adhering to standard work
  • Set KPI goals, and monitor progress of machinists throughout the year
  • Monitor earned hrs./absorption throughout the month
  • Run earned hours report every week to ensure we are meeting targets
  • Create purchase requisitions and be able to convert to purchase orders
  • Process physical inventory counts
  • Manage Kasto and maintain accuracy in SAP
  • Process invoices through VIM inbox
  • Report out metrics for the month (calculate bookings, shafts manufactured, COE backlog, OTD, PDBL, cancelled shafts)
  • Create monthly presentations for ELT on progress of the cell
  • Manage modeling delivery by partnering with GTEC
  • Determine inventory strategies to minimize excess inventory
  • Maintain relationships with people at the OEM sites
  • Ensure schedule adherence for production
  • Train team on OPEX
  • Direct and lead team members toward common goals and objectives. Effectively manages both projects and resources
  • Convey information broadly and in such a manner that it advances team and business goals, strengthens relationships, and transfers business knowledge. Communicate market trends and conditions and customer activities and strategies on an ongoing basis
  • Drive support of the key objectives of Flowserve into the group which includes, working to achieve yearly targets, on time performance targets, and overall operational excellence. Consistently lead Root Cause Analysis reviews and Corrective Action Requests - takes initiative outside direct area of responsibility to drive quality improvements in organization

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years Supervisory/Management experience
  • Excellent leadership, communication, planning and organizational skills.
  • Sound understanding of manufacturing processes and procedures
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong Computer Skills (experience with SAP)

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience in the industry
  • Lean and/or 6 Sigma training a plus
  • Good working knowledge of Flowserve product lines
