Job Description

The Slitter Set-Up is responsible for preparing the slitting line for production by accurately assembling and installing slitter tooling according to customer specifications, production requirements, and established procedures. This role ensures knives, spacers, and related tooling are properly configured, maintained, and ready to support safe, efficient, and high-quality production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up slitter tooling, including knives, spacers, and shims, based on production requirements, specifications, and setup documentation.
  • Interpret setup layouts, schematics, work orders, and slitter setup sheets to ensure accurate machine preparation.
  • Install and mount tooling on the slitter head according to established standards and tolerances.
  • Move and position slitter heads as jobs are completed and new setups are required.
  • Inspect and maintain tooling to ensure knives remain sharp, clean, and production-ready.
  • Coordinate servicing and sharpening of knives as required.
  • Report tooling defects, shortages, or quality concerns involving knives, shims, spacers, or other components to the Production Supervisor.
  • Support Slitter Operators and other production team members as needed to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Maintain accurate production, setup, and maintenance records.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Quality, Safety & Environmental Responsibilities

  • Proactively identify, document, and report non-conformities related to products, processes, and quality systems.
  • Participate in corrective and preventive action processes and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Verify the effectiveness of implemented solutions and corrective actions.
  • Ensure that non-conforming products are properly identified and prevented from further processing until issues are resolved.
  • Support customer requirements and quality standards through adherence to established procedures.
  • Comply with all quality, environmental, health and safety, and company policies and procedures.
  • Promote a safe work environment through the consistent use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to safe work practices.
  • Maintain work areas in accordance with 5S housekeeping standards.
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, teamwork, and operational excellence.
  • Maintain reliable transportation and flexibility to work all shifts as required.
  • Demonstrate the ability and willingness to progress into a Slitter Operator role when required to support operations.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 1 to 3 years of slitting line, machine setup, or related manufacturing experience.
  • Knowledge of slitting equipment, tooling, and setup procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret specifications, setup sheets, schematics, and work instructions.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • This position requires the ability to work rotating shifts, including days, afternoons, and nights.

The base pay for this position is $35.46/hour (CAD). This position is eligible to participate in a short-term incentive plan. Incentive awards, if any, are based on business and individual performance and are not guaranteed.
