Job Description

Resideo is seeking an Element Fab Technician to join our 1st shift team to assemble and fabricate elements. Set up, adjust, and troubleshoot a variety of light, semi-automated, and automated manufacturing equipment to ensure efficient and safe production in accordance with established specifications and standards. This role involves supporting machine operations, guiding operators on proper setup and safe handling procedures, and maintaining continuous workflow by identifying and resolving equipment or process issues. The position also requires strict adherence to safety protocols, particularly when working with hazardous or flammable chemicals, as well as active participation in continuous improvement initiatives and team-based manufacturing processes within a flexible, high-performance production environment.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Sets up and adjusts miscellaneous machines and equipment. Receives assignment from Group Leader and Supervisor. Removes tools and fixtures and disposes as prescribed; obtains required new tools, fixtures, gauges, parts, and supplies and performs necessary change-over operations; positions, aligns and fastens fixtures and tools in machine.Checks results of set up by operating machine and checking against standards and specifications.
  • Instructs operators in use of set-up; demonstrates placement of parts on tools or in fixtures; explains safe methods of feeding and operating machines; and instructs operators in methods of checking parts to avoid waste through production of inferior parts.May assign operators to various machine operations in absences of Group Leader or whenever production conditions require it
  • Troubleshoots on all machines: Checks quality of parts being run; repositions, realigns, and fastens tools and fixtures; replaces broken or bent tools; and makes necessary adjustments to keep machines in operation.
  • MOS – Embrace and engage in the Manufacturing Operating System (MOS) including activities but not limited to Safety & Behavioral Observation Process (BOP), 5S, Continuous Improvement (Kaizen), Tiered Accountability Process, Standard Work, Rapid Problem Solving (RPS), Built In Quality (BIQ), Coaching, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and Knowledge Sharing.

YOU MUST HAVE:

  • 2+ years of prior experience working with hazardous or flammable chemicals (e.g., solvents such as toluene) in a manufacturing, assembly, or laboratory environment.
  • +6 Months of experience performing Setup/Operate/Troubleshooting on equipment or 3+ years equivalent mechanical experience.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

  • Common hand tools and power drivers

  • Inspection equipment and gauges

  • Miscellaneous light machines

  • Semi-automated and automated machines

  • Personal computer

  • Non-motorized material handling equipment

  • Housekeeping equipment

  • Soldering equipment

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Exposure to miscellaneous chemicals, including, but not limited to: Alcohols (isopropanol, etc.), Ethylene Glycol, Glycol, Toluene, Various other solvents, Beryllium Copper, General cleaning chemicalsWorks standing while performing duties online.

  • Must meet designated lifting requirements.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required according to job duties.
  • Silver shield apron/gloves
  • Respirator (Medically evaluated)
  • Face shield/goggles
  • Must maintain good housekeeping practices in assigned area. (Perform 5S activities within the cell)
  • Must work in a team environment and will be required to rotate to different aspects of the job.
  • May be exposed to noise, dirt and/or chemicals in some areas.
  • May require successful completion of a variety of on-the-job certifications or qualification programs (including classroom instruction where applicable).

  • Strong commitment to workplace safety with a proven track record of following safety protocols, OSHA guidelines, and standard operating procedures.

  • Ability to recognize potential hazards and proactively take corrective action to maintain a safe work environment.

  • Experience working in environments requiring strict adherence to ventilation, fire prevention, and chemical exposure controls is preferred.
