Partner with Priory

Build your private practice with the support of Priory

Are you an experienced Family Therapist looking to grow your private practice, expand your client base or enjoy the flexibility of independent working?

At Priory Hospital Southampton, we're looking for a Sessional Family Therapist to join our established clinical team on a self-employed basis.

Whether you're already working independently or considering taking the next step into private practice, partnering with Priory offers an opportunity to develop your practice while benefiting from the support of an established healthcare provider.

Why join Priory as a Sessional Partner?

You'll provide high-quality, individualised therapy to clients, helping them work towards meaningful and lasting change. Sessions can be delivered face-to-face within our clinical setting or online, depending on service requirements.

Why partner with Priory?

  • Flexibility to manage your professional commitments alongside your existing practice.
  • Opportunities to receive referrals through an established healthcare provider.
  • Access to a supportive, multidisciplinary clinical environment.
  • The freedom of self-employed working without having to build your practice entirely on your own.

Take the next step in your private practice journey.

Join Priory Hospital Southampton and make a meaningful difference while developing your independent career.

What you'll bring to the role

We welcome applications from Family Therapist, or other specialist modalities.

You will:

  • Hold professional registration: Family Therapists are required to be registered on the UKCP register and be a member of AFT (Association of Family Therapists)
  • Have a minimum of 2 years’ post-qualification experience providing therapy to families within a mental health setting.
  • Demonstrate strong clinical judgement and excellent communication skills
  • Be available to offer 8 face-to-face sessions per week, onsite. Evenings until 8pm are desirable.
  • Be confident working within clinical governance frameworks, including digital systems, concise clinical notes, and attendance at risk management meetings

Accreditation:

Accreditation with a relevant professional body is required. In certain circumstances, we may consider applicants who are working towards accreditation, provided this can be completed within 12 months of appointment.

What we will give you in return

Starting out or expanding in private practice can feel daunting. Partnering with Priory removes much of that burden while preserving your professional independence.

Practical details:

  • Competitive sessional rates with active patient flow
  • Autonomy – you manage your own caseload
  • Flexible workload – a minimum of 8 sessions per week (more by choice)
  • Hybrid working – on-site sessions with the option to continue online where appropriate
  • Background checks – DBS and regulatory checks covered by Priory
  • On-site benefits – free parking and subsidised meals at many locations
  • Reflective supervision groups – to support working with complex cases and/or risk.

If you’re committed to making a difference and want to work flexibly within a supportive, professional environment, we’d love to hear from you.
