The School of Social Sciences and Humanities at Renison University College (affiliated with the University of Waterloo) invites applications for a part-time/sessional lecturer opportunity in the Fall 2026 term.

The School of Social Sciences and Humanities is seeking an individual to teach the following course:

  • SDS 251R Social Research
  • Fall 2026 (September to December 2026)
  • Two 80-minute classes per week (+ preparation, marking, and office hours); specific days and times to be determined (M&W or T&Th).

Compensation: The salary paid per term is $8910 plus vacation pay, based on qualifications and experience.

Course description:

Introduction to the philosophy and methodology of applied social science research, including treatment of the problems and strategies of research design and execution.

Job duties include:

  • Job duties include preparing and adhering to the academic course syllabus, facilitating the achievement of course learning objectives, grading student assignments, being available to meet with students outside of class hours; and submitting final grades.

Qualifications

  • Applicants must have a PhD completed or near completion in Sociology, Social Work, Psychology, or a related social science field, and teaching exeprience at post-secondary level.
