PSY340H5 S - Abnormal Psychology: Adult Disorders

This advanced course provides an in-depth examination of current theory and research related to the origin, diagnosis, classification and treatment of adulthood psychological disorders. Readings and discussion will provide a biopsychosocial framework from which to explore contemporary explanations of psychopathology. Students will investigate how culture, societal norms, and environmental factors may shape what is considered to be abnormal adult behaviour.

Prerequisites PSY201H5 (or equivalent) and PSY240H5
Exclusions PSY342H1 or PSYB32H3
Estimated course enrolment: 85
Estimated TA support: 120 hours

Class schedule: In-person on Tuesday from 18:00 to 21:00 (See ttb.utoronto.ca) [NOTE: The mode of instruction is expected to be in-person. However, if this changes for any reason, you will be provided with as much advance notice as practicable]
Sessional dates of appointment: January 1, 2027 - April 30, 2027

$9,997.48 for Sessional Lecturer I
$10,699.22 for Sessional Lecturer I - Long Term

$10,953.96 for Sessional Lecturer II - Long Term

$11,228.90 for Sessional Lecturer III - Long Term


Stipend rates are inclusive of vacation pay. Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective
agreement vary from rates in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.
Qualifications The candidate must have a Ph.D degree or be in the final stages of a PhD. The decision on hiring
will be based on previous teaching experience in this course or other similar courses, academic qualifications and
suitability for the position.

of duties Preparation and delivery of course content; creation of course material, development and
administration of assignments, tests and examinations; the supervision of teaching assistants for leading tutorials
and grading and marking student work; submission of final grades to appropriate University officials in accordance
with policy; the maintenance of reasonable hours for student contact outside of scheduled contact hours.
