Course number and title: FSTC14H3 - Culinary Practice for Health
Course description: This class uses evidence-based approaches combining culinary arts, nutrition science, food literacies, and medical education to prevent, manage, and treat diet-related health conditions. Working in the Culinaria Kitchen Laboratory, students will learn to cook foods and plan diets that are healthy, delicious, economical, and culturally diverse.

Number of Hours: 0.5 FCE
Sessional dates of appointment: Specific duties will occur between September 1, 2026 and December 31, 2026.
Salary: Starting September 1, 2026 the following rates of pay apply for half courses (F or S), inclusive of vacation pay: $9,997.47 for a Sessional Lecturer I; $10,699.21 for a Sessional Lecturer I-Long Term; $10,699.21 for a Sessional Lecturer II; $10,953.96 for an Sessional Lecturer II-Long Term; $10,953.96 Sessional Lecturer III; and $11,228.91 for a Sessional Lecturer III-Long Term. Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail. The rate of pay is established by the Collective Agreement between Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), Local 3902 Unit 3 and the University of Toronto.
Minimum qualifications: PhD in Food Studies related field with teaching experience and record of food studies publications.
Preferred qualifications: Past teaching experience is the more relevant criterion than the need to acquire experience in respect of this posted position.
of duties: All normal duties related to the design and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; development, administration and marking of assignments, tests and exams; creation of relevant kitchen labs; calculation and submission of grades; submission of a deferred exam; holding regular office hours.
