Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

In
keeping with a technology-enhanced learning environment that incorporates
mobile devices and wireless connectivity, the Foundations III instructor will
contribute to the development and delivery of a dynamic and enhanced
pre-service teacher education program. This role requires a forward-thinking
educator who models creative, evidence-based approaches to instruction,
including the implementation and assessment of course materials and
assignments.

Collaboration
with faculty colleagues is essential to ensure a cohesive and integrated
Bachelor of Education program. The Foundations III instructor will bring a
passion for education, change, and learning to the faculty; deliver course
content; assess student work; and be available for student consultation during
and after the course session. Instructors will meet with the Foundations team
at regular intervals throughout the course to co-plan, align content, share
updates, and respond to emerging needs. While the Canvas learning management
system is overseen by the course lead, instructors are expected to use Canvas
to grade student work, communicate regularly, and maintain ongoing engagement
with their course sections.

Participation in educational, scholarly, or
professional communities within and beyond Ontario will be considered an asset.
Additionally, the instructor will support and monitor teacher candidates’
professional growth during their practicum placements.

This position falls within the bargaining unit represented by the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) and will be subject to the terms and conditions of the collective agreement between the University and PSAC. The collective agreement may be found on the Human Resources section of our website. Candidates will be required to certify that they are currently legally eligible to work in Canada for the duration of the contract.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will
have demonstrated excellent teaching contributions with a proven aptitude for
teaching at the pre-service and grade K-12 teaching level.

• Evidence of an ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment
  
• Excellent communication skills with an ability to maintain effective relationships with a range of faculty, staff and students
  
• Excellent organizational skills in order to effectively manage course delivery, the marking of assignments, and the ability respond to student enquiries in a timely manner
  
• Evidence of a well-grounded understanding of curricular and pedagogical design, educational research, and assessment while integrating a variety of digital technologies
  
• Demonstrated evidence of understanding of how teachers learn and develop
  
• A demonstrated understanding of the core content within the OCT accreditation requirements for both course and practicum areas
  
• Knowledge of education in the Ontario context
  
• Openness to new and diverse perspectives of teaching and learning
  
• Evidence of teaching that fosters reflection, creativity, innovation, critical thinking, problem solving and collaboration
  
• Evidence of successful integration of theories of learning/teaching within instructional practice
  
• Evidence of a successful integration of planning, instruction, assessment and cultivating classroom learning communities
  
• Evidence of an ability to reflect on one’s own professional practice and adapt practices as needed
• Evidence of integration of digital technologies with instructional practice

Education:

• A Master’s degree in Education or equivalent is required
• A member in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers is required
• A PhD would be an asset
  

Experience:

The successful candidate demonstrates:

• Successful teaching within the K-12 classroom context
• Successful infusion of technologies in practice as purposeful teaching tools for, as, and of learning in the classroom
• Experience in working with teacher candidates during practicum placement
• Demonstrated evidence-based, or research-informed practice
• Successful teaching of
  Foundations series of courses
  
• Experience working within an LMS
• Experience working in online learning environments

Priority will be given to an Internal Applicant who has taught any course for the University in three (3) different sessions in the past thirty-six (36) months, provided they meet the requirements for the position as outlined in the job posting.
