Job Description

Sessional Fitness Instructor

Application Deadline: 6 May 2026

Department: Site Support Roles

Employment Type: Zero Hours

Location: Priory Hospital Hayes Grove

Compensation: £34.00 / hour

We are looking for a passionate and motivated Fitness Instructor to join our Therapy Services team on a sessional basis at Hayes Grove Hospital.

This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful difference by supporting patients within a mental health setting, using physical activity as a key part of their recovery and wellbeing journey.

Working closely with our multidisciplinary team, you will design and deliver tailored fitness programmes that complement therapeutic care plans and promote both physical and emotional wellbeing.

This is a self-employed, sessional role offering flexibility around the centre’s needs and your availability.

You will deliver one-to-one therapy, supporting clients to achieve their treatment goals, either face-to-face in our modern clinical environment or online.

Why join Priory as a Sessional Fitness Partner?

At Priory, you’ll be part of a compassionate, multidisciplinary team committed to delivering personalised, evidence-based care that helps people move forward with confidence and build healthier, more fulfilling lives.

You will play a key role in patients’ recovery, contributing to assessment, treatment planning, and therapeutic delivery, while working within strong clinical governance frameworks.

  • Deliver safe, engaging 1:1 and group fitness sessions tailored to individual patient needs
  • Complete risk assessments and develop personalised fitness plans in collaboration with the therapy team
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical records and progress notes
  • Work alongside clinicians in MDT meetings and case discussions where required
  • Ensure all fitness equipment is safe, maintained, and compliant with regulations
  • Contribute to service development, including reviewing and adapting fitness provision based on demand
  • Support data collection for audit and service improvement

What we offer:

  • Steady patient flow – you can focus on therapy rather than marketing
  • Credibility & trust – work under the nationally recognised Priory brand
  • Clinical and admin support – access to clinical space, billing, and administrative support
  • Flexibility – choose the days and hours that suit you
  • Team connection – the independence of self-employment without professional

What you'll bring to the role

  • Level 3 Fitness Instructor qualification (Advanced Instructor)
  • REPs (or CIMSPA) registration
  • Valid First Aid & CPR certification
  • Strong understanding of fitness, health, and nutrition
  • Experience delivering fitness programmes, ideally within a healthcare, education, or rehabilitation setting
  • Excellent communication and motivational skills, with the ability to engage individuals with diverse needs

What we will give you in return

Starting out or expanding in private practice can feel daunting. Partnering with Priory removes much of that burden while preserving your professional independence.

Practical details:

  • Competitive sessional rates with active patient flow
  • Autonomy – you manage your own caseload
  • Flexible workload – typically 8–15 sessions per week (more or fewer by choice)
  • Hybrid working – on-site sessions with the option to continue online where appropriate
  • Background checks – DBS and regulatory checks covered by Priory
  • On-site benefits – free or discounted parking and subsidised meals at many locations

If you’re committed to making a difference and want to work flexibly within a supportive, professional environment, we’d love to hear from you.
