About the Role:


As a Service Miner at Dumas, you’ll be responsible for installing, maintaining, and upgrading critical underground services that keep the mine operating safely and efficiently. This includes ventilation systems, air and water lines, dewatering infrastructure, electrical services (as permitted), and related mine services. You’ll work in challenging underground environments, ensuring quality workmanship, adherence to specifications, and uncompromising safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, extend, and maintain ventilation systems (vent walls, doors, vent tubing/ducting, fans, regulators, and bulkheads) according to engineered designs.
  • Set up, tie-in, and maintain mine services including compressed air, potable/industrial water, pump lines, heat lines, and drainage.
  • Assist with dewatering systems: pump installation, line routing, valve placement, backflow prevention, and routine inspection/maintenance.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, service layouts, and ventilation plans; verify measurements and ensure installations meet design specifications.
  • Conduct pre-operational checks and routine maintenance on tools and service equipment (scissor lifts, boom lifts, forklifts, telehandlers, small fans/pumps), reporting issues promptly.
  • Perform hose/pipe fitting and rigging tasks (flanges, couplings, clamps, reducers), pressure testing, and leak troubleshooting.
  • Ensure compliance with Dumas and site-specific safety protocols, environmental standards, and quality requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Ontario Underground Hard Rock Mining Common Core with Specialty Modules in Service Mining (or provincial equivalent).
  • Minimum 3 years of underground service installation experience (ventilation, air/water services, pumps, and related infrastructure).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in ventilation hardware, pipe/hose systems, fittings, fan/regulator installation, and service QA/QC.
  • Strong understanding of safe lifting/rigging, energy isolation (LOTO), and working at heights in underground environments.
  • Proven ability to work in physically demanding and confined spaces with an excellent safety record.
  • Asset: Valid equipment tickets (e.g., scissor/boom lift, forklift/telehandler), Working at Heights, Confined Space, WHMIS.
