This is routine work involving food preparation and service, general cleaning, and customer service. Tasks require adherence to specific instructions and established procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to students, staff, visitors, and coworkers.
  • Prepare food items as required.
  • Clean and fill beverage machines; wipe workstations; mop spills.
  • Set tables, serve menu items, and set up dining areas.
  • Maintain stock of condiments, napkins, salt and pepper, creamers, and sugar.
  • Process customer payments.
  • Assist cooks with preparation of menu items.
  • Wash dishes, utensils, pots, and pans; load, unload, and operate the dishwasher; stack dishes; clean kitchen equipment.

Skills & Abilities

  • Understanding of equipment and methods used in food preparation.
  • Good understanding of customer service techniques and methods.
  • Good understanding of payment methods and point‑of‑sale machines.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions and converse fluently in English.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to safely perform duties using ladders or step stools.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 30 lbs. unassisted.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including days, evenings, weekends, and split shifts.
  • Ability to work at various locations and venues.

Qualifications

  • Completion of Grade nine
  • Experience in customer service environment performing food service-related duties
  • Food Safety and Sanitation certificate is required (must be obtained before completion of the probationary period)
  • Alberta Server Intervention Program certificate may be required depending on location/venue assignment
  • First Aid certificate may be required depending on location/venue assignment
  • Equivalencies may be considered

Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services (WES), International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS) or the Comparative Education Services (CES).

Classification – Service Worker

This position is covered by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) Collective Agreement.

Remuneration

Refer to salary range noted on this posting, plus 12% in lieu of statutory holidays and vacation pay.

The compensation range for this job posting is : $17.85 - $23.99
