Job Description

Milton CAT is seeking a Service Technology & Business Systems Specialist to support our Service Organization by helping employees effectively use business systems, processes, and tools that drive day-to-day service operations. While it involves working with technology, the primary focus is on understanding and supporting service business processes, performing operational functions, and serving as a bridge between service operations, business systems, and IT.

The ideal candidate enjoys being close to the business—learning how service work is performed, supporting users in real operational scenarios, and helping improve processes through effective system use. This role will also participate as part of the consulting team supporting the development and implementation of Milton CAT’s next-generation ERP system.

Pay Rate $60,000-$70,000 a year depending on experience. This is a salaried position.

  • Coordinate setup, updates, device refreshes, and basic configuration of service-issued laptops and mobile devices in alignment with company standards and IT policies.
  • Provide hands-on technology support and training to service technicians to ensure effective use of mobile devices, service applications, and business systems.
  • Support the effective use of service business systems by service employees and internal stakeholders.
  • Perform hands-on service operational functions, including opening, managing, and closing work orders to gain process understanding.

  • Deliver training on current systems, system upgrades, and new process implementations.
  • Act as a liaison between Service Operations and IT, ensuring service business needs are clearly understood and supported.

  • Assist with business system testing, validation, and feedback.
  • Support after-hours work as needed to meet business or customer requirements.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

What This Role Is Not

About Milton CAT

Milton CAT is the Caterpillar Dealer for the Northeast region of the United States. Our territory includes Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and upstate New York.

We are a private company, founded in 1960, owned by the family who started the business fifty years ago. Since those early days, Milton CAT has grown to 12 locations, and close to 1000 employees. We're consistently named one of the world's top CAT dealers in terms of sales volume and we're well-known for our progressive practices. In addition to the complete range of Caterpillar equipment, we also sell and service several other top brands that complement the Caterpillar brand.

The company has two main divisions; Earthmoving and Power Systems.

The Earthmoving Division sells, rents and supports machinery and work tools for segments that include the construction, landscaping, forestry, mining, quarry, crushing and screening and municipal sectors.

The Power Systems Division sells, rents and supports power generators and air compressors, and has a specialized engineering group that works with customers to develop customized power systems. Those Milton CAT locations close to water have a marine focus; an industrial group markets engines to manufacturers to power their own machines; and the on-highway truck engine business is an important component for all of our locations.
