Job Description

THE ROLE:

This is first and foremost a mechanical and technical position. While customer relationships and territory development are important, success in this role starts with your ability to understand how complex equipment works—and how to keep it performing at the highest level. Your technical expertise is what earns customers' trust, and that trust naturally leads to opportunities to grow the business.

As a Rescue Solutions Specialist, you'll become the technical expert for Hurst-Jaws of Life rescue tools and fire equipment throughout your territory. You'll work directly with fire departments performing inspections, diagnostics, preventative maintenance, repairs, and complete rebuilds of hydraulic and battery-powered rescue equipment. You'll be expected to confidently disassemble, troubleshoot, repair, and reassemble complex mechanical systems while ensuring every tool meets manufacturer specifications and safety standards.

The ideal candidate enjoys working with their hands, solving mechanical problems, and takes pride in restoring equipment to peak performance. If you're the type of person who wants to know how something works, isn't afraid to take it apart, and has the skill to put it back together better than before, you'll thrive in this role.

You'll build relationships in the firehouse, on the training ground, and in the field—but those relationships are built on your credibility as a skilled mechanical professional.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

  • Exceptional mechanical aptitude is essential—you enjoy taking equipment apart, diagnosing problems, rebuilding machinery, and understanding how mechanical systems operate
  • Background in equipment service, automotive, diesel, heavy equipment, industrial maintenance, hydraulics, or similar mechanical field
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot, repair, and rebuild mechanical and hydraulic equipment with minimal supervision
  • Comfortable learning new technologies, including battery-powered rescue systems and electronic diagnostics
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build trust with first responders
  • Self-starter who thrives in a field-based, relationship-driven role
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts in a clear, practical way and confidently train end users
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel locally

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

Service & Technical Support

  • Perform annual inspections, preventative maintenance, testing, repairs, and complete rebuilds on hydraulic and battery-powered rescue tools
  • Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues and perform repairs both in the field and in the shop
  • Disassemble equipment, replace worn or damaged components, rebuild assemblies, and return tools to manufacturer performance specifications
  • Troubleshoot equipment failures on-site and provide timely technical solutions
  • Ensure all tools meet safety, operational, and performance standards before returning them to service
  • Maintain accurate service documentation, inspection records, and repair reports

Training & Customer Partnership

  • Conduct hands-on tool demonstrations, maintenance instruction, and training drills
  • Educate departments on proper equipment operation, preventative maintenance, and best practices
  • Serve as the trusted technical resource for chiefs, officers, mechanics, and purchasing decision-makers
  • Build long-term customer relationships by delivering dependable service and technical expertise

Sales & Territory Development

  • Grow Hurst-Jaws of Life product sales within your assigned territory by leveraging your technical expertise and trusted customer relationships
  • Identify opportunities through preventative maintenance visits, existing customer relationships, and new outreach
  • Manage the full customer engagement process: demonstration → evaluation → quote → implementation
  • Partner with Firematic's apparatus and equipment teams on bundled opportunities
  • Represent Firematic at trade shows, department events, and industry functions
  • Earn performance-based incentives by delivering exceptional service, building long-term customer partnerships, expanding your territory, and helping departments implement the right rescue solutions

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Background repairing hydraulic systems, rescue tools, heavy equipment, automotive, diesel, industrial machinery, or emergency equipment
  • Experience diagnosing, rebuilding, and servicing complex mechanical equipment
  • Firefighter, EMT, or experience working with fire departments
  • Prior customer-facing or territory management experience

WHY FIREMATIC?

  • Established, respected name in the fire service industry
  • Strong existing customer relationships across Long Island and beyond
  • Team-oriented, family-run culture with long-tenured employees
  • Opportunity to make a direct impact on life-saving operations
  • Ongoing factory training and manufacturer certification to expand your technical expertise
  • Performance-based earned incentive program that rewards technical excellence, customer satisfaction, territory growth, and business development

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

  • Competitive base salary + performance-based earned incentive opportunities
  • Company vehicle or allowance
  • Full benefits package
  • Ongoing training and manufacturer support

THE IMPACT:

At Firematic, this role is bigger than sales or service.

Your primary responsibility is ensuring the rescue equipment firefighters depend on is mechanically sound, properly maintained, and ready to perform without hesitation. Every inspection, every repair, every rebuild, and every training session contributes to a firefighter's ability to save lives safely and effectively.

When a crew arrives on scene, they don't think about the last person who serviced their tools—they simply trust they'll work.

Your mechanical expertise is what gives them that confidence.

That's the standard. That's the mission.
