Downer is seeking a skilled Telecommunications Service Technician to join our Auckland team, supporting the delivery, maintenance and fault response of critical telecommunications infrastructure across New Zealand.

In this handson role, you’ll work across service and project environments, taking ownership of allocated sites and ensuring networks are installed, serviced and maintained safely, efficiently and to a high standard. You’ll work closely with Field Managers, engineers and customers while playing a key role in keeping communities connected. Oncall and callout work forms part of this role.

Ngā pūkenga matua | What We’re Looking For

You’re a practical, safetyfocused technician who enjoys problemsolving and working independently in the field. You’ll bring:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in the telecommunications industry, ideally across copper and/or fibre networks

  • NZQA Level 3 Telecommunications qualification or equivalent industry experience

  • Experience with jointing, faultfinding equipment and interpreting plans and drawings

  • Strong service and/or project delivery experience

  • A proactive approach to faults, callouts and site ownership

  • Commitment to Zero Harm, safe work practices and quality outcomes

  • Clear communication skills and the ability to build positive customer relationships

  • Full clean New Zealand Driver’s Licence

  • Willingness to participate in a 24/7 oncall roster

Rigging or additional network certifications are an advantage but not essential.
