Downer is seeking a skilled Telecommunications Service Technician to join our Auckland team, supporting the delivery, maintenance and fault response of critical telecommunications infrastructure across New Zealand.
In this hands‑on role, you’ll work across service and project environments, taking ownership of allocated sites and ensuring networks are installed, serviced and maintained safely, efficiently and to a high standard. You’ll work closely with Field Managers, engineers and customers while playing a key role in keeping communities connected. On‑call and call‑out work forms part of this role.

You’re a practical, safety‑focused technician who enjoys problem‑solving and working independently in the field. You’ll bring:
Minimum 3 years’ experience in the telecommunications industry, ideally across copper and/or fibre networks
NZQA Level 3 Telecommunications qualification or equivalent industry experience
Experience with jointing, fault‑finding equipment and interpreting plans and drawings
Strong service and/or project delivery experience
A proactive approach to faults, call‑outs and site ownership
Commitment to Zero Harm, safe work practices and quality outcomes
Clear communication skills and the ability to build positive customer relationships
Full clean New Zealand Driver’s Licence
Willingness to participate in a 24/7 on‑call roster
Rigging or additional network certifications are an advantage but not essential.
