Job Description

The Service Technician contributes to the success of Liebherr Great Britain Ltd by carrying out hands-on service, repair, overhaul, and test activities on HVAC systems and associated components in line with defined processes, quality standards, and safety requirements.

The role is responsible for the effective execution of shop floor activities, ensuring work is completed right-first time, within agreed turnaround times, and in accordance with Liebherr’s technical, quality, and HSE standards.

The Service Technician operates within the Company’s key result areas: Business Performance, Customer Focus, People and Teamwork, and ensures full compliance with the Company’s Health & Safety Policy, Environmental Policy, and Quality System.

The Role

• Service, Repair & Overhaul Activities
Carry out evaluation, repair, overhaul, modification, and test activities on HVAC units, controllers, and associated equipment in line with work instructions, manuals, and engineering documentation.
Diagnose faults effectively, identifying root cause and proposing corrective actions where appropriate.
Ensure all work is completed to the required quality and technical standards.

Workshop Execution & Productivity
Complete assigned tasks in line with daily and weekly production plans agreed with the Shopfloor Operations Lead.
Accurately record labour, materials, and work status within operational systems.
Support achievement of turnaround time, productivity, and quality targets.

Testing & Quality Assurance
Conduct functional testing and final inspection activities in accordance with defined test procedures.
Identify non-conformances and support corrective and preventative actions.
Ensure units are fit for release and meet all acceptance criteria prior to despatch.

Health, Safety & Compliance
Work in full compliance with Liebherr Health & Safety, Environmental, and Quality policies at all times.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment (5S principles).
Proactively report hazards, near misses, and safety concerns.

Continuous Improvement & Teamwork
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives relating to workshop efficiency, quality, and safety.
Share technical knowledge and support less experienced colleagues where required.
Act as a positive ambassador for Liebherr behaviours, professionalism, and standards.

Training & Development
Maintain and develop technical competence through training, coaching, and on-the-job learning.

Operational Support Activities
Support the Shopfloor Operations Lead with operational and logistical tasks that enable effective shopfloor activity, as required.
This may include support with:
- Asset management and control of tools, test equipment, and workshop assets
- Stock control activities, including material identification, segregation, and basic inventory checks
- Goods inwards and goods outwards activities, including receipt, preparation, and dispatch of units and materials
- Maintaining accurate records relating to assets, stock movements, and workshop logistics

Ensure all such activities are carried out in accordance with Liebherr processes, quality requirements, and Health & Safety standards

Your Profile

The successful candidate will require the following:
• Experience working in a service, repair, overhaul, or engineering environment
• Hands-on fault finding and repair experience
• Strong practical and diagnostic skills
• Ability to follow procedures and technical documentation
• High attention to detail and quality
• Willingness to attend training as required
• Commitment to maintaining professional and technical knowledge

Desirable:
• HVAC, electrical, or controls-specific qualifications
• Rail, transportation, or regulated industry experience
• Experience with HVAC systems, controllers, or power electronics
• Familiarity with digital job cards / ERP systems
• Ability to travel within the UK and Europe as required to support business needs
