Position Summary
The Service Technician diagnoses, troubleshoots, inspects, adjusts, repairs, and replaces window and door products at customer locations. This position provides safe, high-quality field service, supports customers and internal staff, and ensures service work is accurately documented and completed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Diagnose product issues and perform field service and repairs on Marvin and other products.
- Replace glass and install or replace shades, blinds, muntins, screens, and related components.
- Educate customers on product care, operation, and maintenance.
- Complete service work orders and documentation, including information needed for follow-up service, billing, credits, and unresolved product or customer issues.
- Conduct job-site walk-throughs, identify items requiring correction, and complete required documentation.
- Inspect replacement parts, review service tickets for accuracy, identify needed parts, and coordinate ordering over the phone or via email through the CSR.
- Provide technical support to internal staff and follow up with customers and CSRs to resolve service concerns.
- Collect customer payments when required.
- Load and maintain the assigned service vehicle, tools, equipment, and parts.
- Follow company safety requirements, including use of required PPE and fall protection, and promptly report safety concerns.
- Provide professional customer service consistent with company standards and goals.
- Assist with training employees and continuous-improvement activities as requested.
- Perform other duties consistent with the position and business needs.
Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Knowledge of general construction practices and/or window and door products and components.
- Experience safely operating common power tools, including saws, pneumatic nail guns, and drills.
- Basic computer skills and ability to learn company and Marvin software systems.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with customers, coworkers, and managers and to understand safety instructions and document service activity.
- Strong customer-service, troubleshooting, organizational, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
- Dependable, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Professional appearance consistent with company safety, hygiene, uniform, and customer-service standards, subject to reasonable accommodation.
Physical and Work Requirements
The position requires regular driving and field work in customer homes, company facilities, service vehicles, and residential or commercial job sites. Duties may require standing, walking, reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, repetitive motions, and operating tools and equipment.
May lift and/or move items weighing up to 100 pounds, using team lifting or mechanical assistance when appropriate. Must have the functional ability to safely inspect products, operate tools, drive, and perform service work.
Work may involve moderate-to-loud noise, seasonal temperatures, varying weather, and construction-site conditions. Work schedules and hours may vary based on seasonal and business needs.
