The Service Technician is responsible for maintenance and repair of electric components and equipment and ensure equipment is running correctly. Refers to schematics and performs visual inspections for basic problems. Uses diagnostic equipment to pinpoint malfunctions. Once identified, defective components are repaired or replaced. Primary responsibility of this role is to safely perform electrical service, maintenance, troubleshoot, repair and install work while delivering exceptional customer service.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, test, and repair electrical systems, equipment, and controls using appropriate testing, metering, and measuring devices.
  • Perform planned preventative maintenance, inspections, system testing, and equipment evaluations to ensure safe and reliable operation.
  • Complete service contracts, quoted projects, and demand service calls in accordance with company standards, applicable codes, regulations, and customer requirements.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, gauges, testing instruments, and other trade-related equipment safely and proficiently.
  • Accurately complete work orders, daily work authorizations (DWAs), service reports, and other required documentation, including labor, materials, and invoicing information, utilizing ServiceTitan and mobile technology platforms.
  • Communicate project status, service findings, and recommendations effectively with customers, Service Coordinators, Project Specialists, and other internal stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain strong customer relationships by delivering high-quality service and ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Identify additional service opportunities, recommend solutions, and recognize customer needs to support business growth.
  • Participate in emergency response, after-hours service, and on-call rotation schedules as required.
  • Safely operate company vehicles in accordance with company driving policies, safety requirements, and applicable laws.
  • Maintain company vehicles, tools, equipment, and service inventory in a clean, organized, and operational condition.
  • Purchase materials as needed and coordinate supplier transactions, including providing appropriate purchase order documentation.
  • Utilize smartphones and mobile technology to receive work orders, schedules, emails, text communications, and field service updates.
  • Adhere to all company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain all required licenses, certifications, and professional credentials necessary to perform assigned work.

Minimum Qualifications

Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Two-year technical degree in related field is preferred.
  • Maintains required registrations, professional licenses and/or certifications as required by the position.
  • 2-5 years of experience as a Service Technician or equivalent.
  • Electrical installations and troubleshooting skills required: lighting installations, aerial lighting, and energized electrical work. Must be able to read blueprints. Diagnostic/Trouble shooting ability as demonstrated through prior experience and/or training.
  • Performs as self-managed individual.
  • Professional demeanor, solid interpersonal skills with good oral communication capability.
  • Clean Driving Record

Work Environment:

  • Able to be exposed to the elements & climates - working in both office and site conditions; extreme heat, cold, wind, rain, etc.
  • Able to lift 50lbs without strain or assistance.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces & places.
