We have an immediate opportunity available for a Service Technician based onsite at our service center in Austin, Texas. The work schedule is 7am- 300pm

The Service Technician will clean, install, service, repair and/or refurbish complex vacuum equipment and systems such as pumps, helium leak detectors, and other electronic instruments both at our own Service Center and at the customer’s site, as necessary. Additionally, he/she will use a wide range of hand and power tools, measuring devices, meters, and scopes to install, test, and trouble shoot and repair equipment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Will strictly adhere to all Quality and Safety procedures of the Company.
  • Will use a wide range of hand and power tools including measuring devices, meters, and scopes.
  • Perform documentation such as daily timesheets, service documentation, HR compliance updates, safety training and certification, etc.
  • Tasks in the primary clean room are as follows:
    • Will take readings of failure codes and warnings to help determine failure mode or mechanism of the pump.
    • Disassembling the equipment.
    • Confirming customer complaint of returning equipment.
    • Decontaminating the equipment (using parts cleaners, degreasers, high pressure wash equipment, ultrasonic cleaners as well as blast media).
    • May assist with equipment maintenance, as requested.

Required Experience & Personal Qualifications

  • AA degree and/or 1 year of related experience in the service and repair field of electronic or mechanical equipment.
  • General mechanical and electrical aptitude required.
  • Must be able to follow repair instructions and testing techniques.
  • Requirements also include the ability to work in a team-oriented environment, being a self-starter, motivated, creative, flexible, self-confident, deadline-oriented and able to multi-task.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Windows as well as general background working with computers and office equipment (copiers, etc.) and accurately performing data entry.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English.
  • Basic mathematical skills required including the ability to accurately use scales and measurement equipment.

Physical Requirements

Tasks require walking, sitting, bending, reaching, mobility, and frequent lifting. Work requires computer skills (word processing, spreadsheet, and data-entry via ERP system), attention to detail and accuracy. Communication skills including listening and speaking are required for interaction with other employees, vendors, and customers. Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to balance multiple tasks and any stress associated with the duties and responsibilities of this position are essential requirements in the performance of this job. Additionally, must be able to manipulate small and large tools to make both fine and major adjustments to intricate test apparatus and equipment. The person in this job must be able to lift tools and equipment weighing up to 75 pounds. The position requires regular lifting of 25-pound equipment. Employee must be medically cleared to wear the required PPE. Employee is expected to use the required PPE for several hours at a time to complete an evaluation. Secondary duties with added requirements may be assigned from time to time.

This position will work both mostly in a service center with infrequent tasking at customer sites. Indoor and climate controlled industrial environment.

Job Requirements

  • Ability and willingness to pass a 9-panel drug screen, 7-year criminal history check
    • Most felonies are a disqualifier, misdemeanors are considered on a case-by-case basis
  • Must pass respirator fit test (annual retesting required)
    • Must be willing to maintain facial hair to a minimum for respirator fitment
  • Must be willing and able to utilize all required PPE
  • Must be eligible to work in the US without company sponsorship, as we do not sponsor Visas.
