Job Description

This is a great opportunity for a candidate with service knowledge and experience in the heavy equipment industry. Qualified candidates will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of Shop Service Technicians, managing and prioritizing work and scheduling technicians accordingly. Working closely with the Service Manager, Technicians, and customers to ensure that expectations are met, and repairs are conducted expeditiously and efficiently.

The annual salary range for this position is: $80,000 to $90,000. This is an exempt position and is not eligible for overtime pay.

  • Supervise Shop Service Technicians and manage a dynamic work schedule.
    • Maintain schedule and manage shop work.
    • Oversee repairs and provide support/guidance.
    • Evaluate all work for accuracy.
    • Review and approve timecards daily.
    • Foster a team environment and work together to form and execute solutions.
  • Open, monitor, and review work orders with Service Administrator to close out work orders in a timely manner.
    • The company goal is to have work orders closed within 8 days from the last date of labor.
  • Establish, promote, and ensure an outstanding level of customer service to internal and external customers.
    • Provide written estimates to salesmen and customers for repair and service work.
    • Proactively keep contact with customers on repair progress and service reports.
    • Act as point of contact for all service and repair calls.
      • Assist customers and technicians with technical questions.
  • Participate in staffing Service Technician positions and conducting annual employee evaluations.
  • Meet with the Service Manager regularly to review Service department status.

REQUIRED SKILLS/JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • The individual in this position should be personable, highly motivated, detail oriented with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Provide exceptional customer service.
  • Personal accountability and self-management to prioritize and complete all tasks required of the position.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage relationships both internally and externally.
  • Teamwork: cooperate and support others within the Service Department and the Modern Machinery organization.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 2-year supervisory/management experience.
  • Preferred 2 or 4-year technical degree or equivalent job experience.
  • Technical and diagnostic skills required.
  • Ability to read and understand schematics.
  • Hydraulic, engine, electrical troubleshoot, and repair.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, and Excel).
