Job Title: Site Superintendent, Eastern Canada

Reports to: General Manager
Location: Thunder Bay, ON
Schedule: Full-time; 12-hour shifts, 14 days on, 14 days off
Meal Allowance & Accommodation: Provided
Flights Paid: Company covers flights to and from home airport
Company Provided Equipment: Company Fleet Vehicle Provided, Laptop, Cell Phone, and tools necessary to perform the role successfully
Salary: $180,000 - $210,000

The Site Superintendent is responsible for leading and managing the day-to-day operations of site operations teams across Eastern Canada. As a leader for the eastern operations team, the role is critical in assessing and supporting employee safety and operational success and wellness while ensuring customer service and satisfaction are top priority. The role requires technical expertise in heavy off-road equipment, extensive leadership experience, and a strong focus on safety and operational excellence.
This role will be provided with accommodations in Thunder Bay, where they will travel to sites across Eastern Canada to ensure successful onboarding and orientations are being completed while driving consistency with operational effectiveness. This position reports to the General Manager.
Responsibilities:
• Lead, train and mentor mobile equipment crews to meet operational and project milestones.
• Oversee the safe operation, maintenance, and performance of heavy mining and construction equipment.
• Actively participate and lead in the organization’s safety program and model appropriate safety behaviours and report on safety requirements.
• Ensure team members follow safety standards, safe work practices, and regulatory compliance, ensuring documentation is submitted to appropriate departments as required.
• Provide leadership in team building, planning, and establishing clear, measurable goals focused on safety, results, and customer satisfaction.
• Arrange training for team members, review work performance, and address performance issues at the primary stage, utilizing HR, H&S, and Operations Managers when required.
• Ensure compliance with safety and relevant certification and provide copies of all training and certification to onboarding@bcer.ca for tracking on employee file.
• Performance management and measurement using the progressive discipline and review programs and processes is required.
• Manage the execution of scheduled, unscheduled, and breakdown work plans.
• Work closely with the maintenance planning department to ensure work aligns with established processes and is delivered in an executable weekly plan.
• Work closely with client teams to build trusting customer relations.
• Manage an annual budget, ensuring accurate cost tracking and alignment with asset health and operational goals.
• Collaborate with vendors (i.e. Komatsu, Caterpillar, etc.) to optimize equipment performance and resolve issues efficiently.
• Provide analysis of department performance metrics, identify gaps, and implement solutions to enhance productivity and quality.
• Collaborate with the fleet manager on scheduling, parts, tooling and logistics to help maintain service truck availability.
• Work in conjunction with the Operations Managers and Superintendents to schedule vacation coverage with minimal impact to client needs.
• Work with the recruiting and HR team on full-cycle recruitment efforts including requesting new and replacement roles, interviewing, candidate selection, and validation of credentials, ensuring that the needs of customers are met.
• Other duties may be required, including vacation coverage.
Qualifications:
• 10+ years of leadership experience in supervisory and maintenance roles is required.
• Strong technical knowledge of heavy mining and construction equipment is required.
• Demonstrated ability to enforce safety standards and lead safety-focused initiatives.
• Experience working with maintenance planning and execution systems is an asset.
• Computer literacy with proficiency in MS Office, SAP, and similar systems.
• Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
• Valid Clean 5-year history driver's abstract.
• Journeyman Red Seal Off-Road Equipment Certification required.
• Proven ability to mentor and develop team members, fostering a high-performing workforce.
