We are seeking a technically skilled Pilot Line Service Specialist to support pilot‑scale customer trials and research & development projects within our Tissue and Paper Converting Pilot Facility. In this role, you will plan, execute, lead, and report on pilot trials—from initial strategy and customer engagement through trial operation, data analysis, documentation, and final invoicing.

You will independently operate and optimize pilot equipment, evaluate process results, and collaborate closely with customers and internal R&D teams to ensure every trial meets technical and commercial objectives. This position requires strong analytical skills, excellent mechanical aptitude, and hands‑on experience with tissue‑making or paper converting technologies.

Candidates with a background in process optimization, product development, or industrial R&D will thrive in this fast‑paced, innovation‑driven environment.

Responsibilities

Pilot Trial Planning & Execution

  • Plan, organize, and lead customer and R&D pilot trials from scope development through project completion.
  • Operate pilot‑scale equipment independently, including machine setup, monitoring, optimization, and adjustments.
  • Ensure trials meet defined technical objectives, timelines, safety standards, and customer expectations.

Technical Analysis & Reporting

  • Collect and analyze trial data to identify performance trends, opportunities, and outcomes.
  • Prepare high‑quality technical reports, documentation, and trial summaries for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support R&D activities by contributing to process innovation, equipment testing, and product development initiatives.

Customer Collaboration & Communication

  • Serve as a primary technical contact during customer trials, maintaining clear and proactive communication.
  • Guide customers through trial objectives, process parameters, results, and recommendations.
  • Represent Valmet professionally during on-site and remote customer interactions.

Additional Support & Travel Requirement

  • The Pilot Line Service Specialist may be required to support activities on the production floor or assist Field Service Technicians during periods of heightened operational need. This may include short‑notice assignments and travel to customer sites. Occasional travel—estimated at up to 30%—should be expected.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering, Process Technology, Industrial Technology, or related field.
  • Hands-on experience with paper converting, tissue‑making, or similar industrial machinery a bonus.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude with the ability to operate, troubleshoot, and maintain complex equipment.
  • Proficiency with data analysis tools (Excel, statistical software, or process monitoring platforms).
